First Teams

[quote:d9f07af77f="geekor"][quote:d9f07af77f="Jerlins"]My hitting problems exist by the fact anyone available in this league that might help my woes is either a 1st baseman or a dh, and it's a non DH league. It also needs to be noted that each team is playing in a pitchers park. I don't know. If I can get Fielder to hit slightly better than a .183/.282 clip, I might be fine. 15 of my losses have been by 1 run, so a little bit of help (and luck) from Fielder may turn this around.[/quote:d9f07af77f]

Yea I notice that as well. At least your Scutaro is hitting ok, I'm still waiting for mine to get a decent OBP worthy of hitting #1 right now :([/quote:d9f07af77f]

Yeah my Scutaro is a tad better, I only wish I was allowed to bat Coghlan after him, though that would just lead to more men LOB with Fielder. Coghlan, for the price, could be the best value in a pitchers park in the set. Gotta love him.

Here's my [i:0f5897e9ce]very [/i:0f5897e9ce]average team playing in Progressive. I came up pretty empty on my draft card and tried some platoons and fill in pitchers. My home/road splits are atrocious, mostly because my team hasn't hit on the road.

The number of lefties are compounding my woes at the plate for my non-platoons (except for Mr. Salazar, that is). Nyjer Morgan has been healthy but abysmal.

All I can say is, Marco Scutaro stinks:

Oracle,

Seems like your hitting is fine for missing out on the frenzy. I'd look to concentrate on your pitching. Without the benefit of seeing what's out there FA wise, try to find pitchers without the ballpark HR's on their cards. If there aren't many (any) higher end studs out there, go cheaper on the SP's and concentrate on the bullpen instead. You really don't have to work on your hitting at all except at catcher, as you have a very nice compliment of good hitters that field their positions well. It's somewhat mind boggling you actually were able to secure all your hitters if you missed out on the frenzy. Hitting wise, I'd probably drop Rayburn/Reimold and find myself a nice LH'd bat for DH that could play OF when Cruz goes down. Is Olivo available at Catcher?

The 3/4 pole

Postby Jerlins » Sat Apr 17, 2010 7:19 am

All 4 teams in the original post within 3 games of the same record:

Akindian: 65 and 55
Jerry and Geekor: 66 and 54
Schnoogens: 68 and 52

As for myself, there are a couple of guys I'd really have to think twice about using again, Wieters and Granderson, and a couple of "wow, not too bad for the buck" guys, in Eyre and Headley. Eyre has actually pitched incredible if you knock out a couple of stinkers.

Amazing how close our teams are!

My biggest problem has been McCann's injuries...he's gone down for a couple of 15-gamers and has only managed 203 AB's.

I've been really happy with Nick Evans as a DH vs L's...for $.93, he's a doubles machine and is slugging .452 (2nd on the team, behind the injured McCann). Perfect for Petco.

How'd you guys end up? I finished with 90 wins, the #1 seed, and...a semifinal exit, 3 games to 1. Par for the course, right?!
