Say you want Frank Aaron and end up with Lezcano as a "replacement". You don't want Lezcano so you can drop him before waivers (getting to 24) and put your alternate choice for Aaron as your waivers pick. Obviously if you miss out on both autodraft guys (hitter and pitcher) you can only drop one before waivers.

Sorry if the wording was confusing!
