New league idea - position draft

Hi all, I know there have been a couple of attempts at theme league drafts that have not reached completion, but I will throw another one in the ring.

A position draft. a 12 round draft, held on the message boards, where, for each round, there is a draft order and a designated position, and you must pick a player to play that position. the player you pick must play that position as long as he is on your team. what position is attached to what round will be randomly assigned.

So for example: if CF is designated as the first round, and you draft Yount, Yount would only be able to play CF for you, not SS. For Yount to play SS, he would have to be drafted in the SS round.

There would be 12 rounds, so each manager would draft first one time. the 12 rounds would cover 8 position players, 1 DH, 2 SP, and 1 RP. the rest of the draft would be autodraft. Your pick would not have to be a starter. For example, if you were a low pick in the catcher round, you could choose to pick your backup catcher then, and take your starter in the autodraft.


The draft order would look like this (with each manager assigned a number):

Draft positions can be traded, wither in full or in particular. in other words, if you are #1 you could trade the #1 spot for the #4 spot across the board, or you could trade your 1st round pick and your 3rd round pick for #4's 1st round pick and 3rd round pick. Just remember, you would want to keep the rounds even because live players can only be used in the position they are drafted in.

As an alternative you could randomly assign a different position to each team in every round. So instead of drafting 12 catchers in round 1, each team is drafting a different position. Basically in round 1 everyone's getting a #1 pick (except for the 2nd SP). Just throwing it out there, but I'm good with your draft order.
