I think a lot of managers are reluctant to go back and LEARN a new year, for the one or two annual chances to play it.

I considered the 1999 league, but the interest was sooooooooo low, and it takes a lot of effort to learn a card set for that.

Even the 2008 set is practically inactive now that 2009 is back.

Maybe Bernie could help initiate some interest in the earlier sets by making them [b:52510fb800]five for $25.[/b:52510fb800] A great intro for new managers.

I recommend the older sets to those who want to challenge themselves in a new way. We've just started playing in the Reelin' in the Years Keeper League, starting with the 2001 season, and it's a blast!

The Draft of the Decade was fascinating, with managers studying 10 years' worth of data and plotting out several seasons in advance. And preparing to adjust as the game engine rules change is also a good mental exercise.

Personally, I took a contrarian approach and drafted speed demons instead of steroid sluggers. I don't know if we'll make the playoffs or not, but we're on track for 500 SB and that's kinda fun, all by itself!

So try an older set. It just might get those brain cells working again...
