Has anyone noticed?

Has anyone else noticed that there are ALOT of hitters this year who, despite what seem like good cards, are woefully underperforming? I can name at least the following off the top of my head without scrutinizing my teams/leagues:

A. Ethier
R. Davis
S. Fuld
E. Patterson
T. Tulowitski
N. Evans (vs LH pitching only)

Please feel free to add to this list.

So funny. I was going to post today to the effect "Has anyone noticed what a lame starting pitching selection there is this year compared to 08?"

So many damned BP Hrs up and down the line.

I have both Nick Evans AND Rajai Davis, and both are not performing up to par.

I agree with Artie about the pitching. Last year's crop had much better choices. As for the hitters, Ethier is doing great for me in a platoon in RF

The other guys, though, I think may be overpriced. Particularly Fuld and Davis. However, you just learn to avoid those guys.

This is good to see. It seems particularly good since it was in Kauffman - a 1-3 HR chance for lefties. Also interesting to see Zimmerman do so well in that stadium.

After a recent slump, Fuld's OPS has dropped to that on his card. This is through 69 games. He's scored a ton of runs which is what I got him for.

My underperformers are:

M. Cabrera
A. Cabrera
K. Morales
S. Choo

I have no complaints about pitching. None at all. They're all performing well above expectations.

Funny how things work out for each manager...

I'm using Kendry Morales on 2 teams and he's producing on both squads.

I have Greinke and Hernandez on a 100M team, and both have about 3.50 ERAs and 1.25 WHIPs. I'd say that's underperforming, but I'm not sure what others might say.

The only other guys on my 2009 teams that I think could/should be doing better given the ballpark and division are Andrew McCutchen and Chase Utley. These guys also play on my 100M team. It was a pre-card draft team. I'm not complaining too much, though, because I am in 1st place.

In general, I think players disappoint managers when they are bad fits for the team, ballpark, and/or division. Only a few players every year are truly overpriced no matter the stadium, and you just have to identify and avoid those guys, as I said earlier.

I have R. Davis on 2 of 5 teams. His OBP is under .300 in both. I've yet to see Zimmerman perform near standard either. On the positive side, M. Olivo, had hit 21 HR's for me in 195 AB's, and going around the other leagues, I've noticed similar power from him on other teams.

I have him in an 80M league in Kaufmann, obviously not built perfectly for him, but through 132 games, he's .278 / .341 / .512 with 28 2Bs, 29 HRs, 94 RBIs, and 92 runs. 18 errors. That's pretty decent, in my opinion.

In the 100M league, the team he's on is in more homer-friendly Chase Field (through 132 games):
.272 / .345 / .539 with 28 2Bs, 34 HRs, 101 RBIs, and 77 runs. Only 8 errors. Solid.

You have to take in to account that 680+ PA durability, too.
