It's coming down to the wire. This is going to be a heck of a finish! Good luck to all those still in the hunt.

Barnstormers - Final 12 Predictions

Postby hallerose » Tue Apr 27, 2010 2:35 pm

It looks like the bubble will be between 365 and 370. Everyone only has 1 league to complete. Final 12 predictions.

In:
1. Moodywoody - year 1 champ
2. Hailedog - year 2 champ
3. Hallerose
4. Rigged Splits
5. Great Unwashed
6. Killermarc - recent70s championship gets off bumble
7. TomP - recent 70s championship gets off bumble

Bubble, looking good:
1. DarthRuvo - playoff in last league should be enough
2. durantjerry: - probably ok, should be in with a playoff in last league
3. swordman - should be in with playoff

On bubble:
1. FAaron -- may need a playoff, otherwise could be passed
2. voovits - locked up playoff, but may need a finals
3. djtrickster -- has playoff, but may need a finals
4. Jimmy C - has a playoff, but may need a finals or championship
5. LMBombers - has a playoff, but may need a finals or championship

Bubble, needs help:
1. ths92110 - may need a playoff but doesn't look likely
2. paulzplace -- probably needs at least a final and isn't looking good
3. pwootten - probably needs a championship

Others can add or clarify. Sorry if I missed someone.

I agree with your assessment, but if I don't make the playoffs in the '80 league (which will likely knock me out of the finals), you'll be the one to blame with your team's late season surge. Good luck with the rest of the league.

Hell, if I had known there was a "bumble", I could have been in. My managers have been "bumbling idiots" other than my last 80s team which is of course managed by Panzer Ace. A smart owner would have named all 4 teams "Panzer Ace". All previous Panzer Ace named team have made the playoffs for me with 66.7% winning the Championship. That is better than the real Panzer Ace!

The only thing you missed was greatest tank job by an 80s team. I was hanging around 10-13 all tourney, hoping and praying my 80s team could hit .500 (think that could have put me in the final 12) and instead they make like the Pittsburgh Pirates and proceed to get their butts whooped over the last 50 games!

Good luck to all that make the magical 12.

I considered you a "shoo-in" 6 weeks ago, JayHawk. It just shows that consistency in all 4 rounds is the answer.

League #4

Postby Jimmy_C » Thu Apr 29, 2010 5:39 pm

It seems like League #4 is where the final moves into the top 12 will be determined. The only top 12 teams that are not a lock for their playoff round are in that league and fighting for a wild-card (or a real outside chance of a division) with 6 games to go.

FAaron - T-11th - Real long shot for the wild card or division.
Durantjerry T-8th - Can't win the division and 3 games off the wild-card hunt
DarthRuvo T-8th - 3 games off the division leader and tied for the wild card with Asleyjoe

DJtrickster is in 13th place, I'm in 14th place and LM Bombers is in 16th place and all headed for post-season play. I know at least I'm eyeing up one of those 3 spots that may be vacated from league #4.

Also...I've turned into a big Ashleyjoe fan very recently. :D

I have to agree with you Jimmy. I'm 5 back of the division and 2 off the wild card. The only saving grace is that my last 6 games are at home. But the only shot is for me to sweep all 6 and then hope for help against Darth Ruvo AND AshleyJoe. That is asking a lot. What got me into this mess was my '70s team. My team floundered all season only to get it together when I cut Buzz Capra and replaced him with Tom House and his awesome '74 card. Unfortunately, I missed the playoffs by ONE game. The funny thing was that I was listening to a lot of Steely Dan before I made the bullpen switch, and I should have listened to Donald Fagen when he sang "I'm through with Buzz." It would have gotten me into the playoffs and probably secured a spot in the final 12.

By my math, with 3 games to go each, there are 5 managers who are currently out of the top 12 who are still in the hunt.
djtrickster
Jimmy_C
LMBombers
pwootten
Yellow Dog

pwootten and Yellow Dog, though mathematically in the hunt, need a bit of help.

Mathematically, the top 4 managers have clinched a spot, but a few others up there are in great shape.

The way I figure, all managers currently in position 8-12 are in real danger of falling out of the top 12 if they miss the playoffs or have a poor playoff performance.
Just making the playoffs may not be good enough. As many as 4 of the bottom 5 could make the finals.
