You're right LM, the injury reveal is a cool aspect of the game. And I do like it. I take back all those rotten things I said. (In case you're wondering, a 70's league kicked off just tonight and I had forgotten how fun it was to try to track down all of the injury reveals).

I don't agree about including the Cy Young and MVP seasons. If you do that, then you should include the runners up to the Cy Young and MVP seasons, and then if you do that, you should include the runners up to the runners up. If you do this, it would only be fair to include the best 1 or 2 seasons of EVERY player. This would be the only fair way.

As has been said, bring the pricing down on players like Mayberry who have only two decent seasons available. I think there should also be some additional solid RHSP's in the 4-6M$ range. I'm of two minds about having last 10 games / L-R breakdowns available on dropped players: On the one hand, it's common sense to have these available; on the other hand, the current way seems to reward managers who are willing to do the drudge work of going back through boxscores and recreating those "lost" stats.

On a more general note, I would love to see SOM create an additional game of this type. A '50's game maybe, or '60's game. Has this ever been discussed?

I'm a late convert to the 70's game. I've had tons of teams in the various ATG games and, to be honest, I am bored stiff with that game. ATG is a classic example of how more can be less. The player pool and park choices have grown so enormous that it has been (unintentionally)morphed into a rather grotesque mutant form where twisted ballpark dimensions and legions of high powered specialized sluggers make game results a joke.

I can't speak for other ATG veteran managers, but for me, if I hadn't discovered the '70's game, I'd probably no longer be playing SOM online. With a little better promotion, I would think a good number of ATG managers would enjoy this kind of game concept.

I hope Bernie and the boys put some effort into shoring up some of the problems pointed out in ths thread. But please don't pressure them to expand the player pool and/or expand the good available seasons to the point where the game becomes something it didn't set out to be in the first place. Just tweak the pricing, the balance, etc.

Oh, and please give us Lyman Bostock. What a wonderfully talented hitter who gave us several bright seasons of promise in the mid 70's before his life was taken that night back home in Gary, Indiana by the coward Leonard Smith. Baseball has all but forgotten him. But he was a real jewel.

I had never heard of Lyman Bostock. I had to look him up. What I read was crazy!!!! Leonard Smith was indeed a coward!!!!! Imagine the outrage if such a thing were to happen today. How can someone be deemed insane and seven months later be fine and dandy? This is a very sad story. A world of talent cut short by a "man" who was insecure.

Here's another update I'd love.
I'd love to see more stats added to the team page.
Specifically, doubles/triples allowed for pitchers. That may make it a little easier to identify a pitchers card, especially if you could view those numbers with the L/R splits.

On a related note to several earlier posts, a ...reshuffling of the "deck" with respect to salaries might make things interesting; as we all know, some players are overpriced, while others are underpriced.
