Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

Postby voovits » Thu May 06, 2010 2:55 am

Well, I blew my chance to solidify my spot in the final 12 by choking my way out of the first round.

All eyes are on league 3 to determine the final spot.
If pwootten defeats TomP and wins a championship, then he makes it to the top 12, if he loses, then I finish ranked 12th.

All this is possible, not just because I lost, but because Jimmy C lost as well.
So our final 12 are:
1. Moodywoody
2. hailedog
3. hallerose
4. Rigged Splits
5. killermarc
6. Great Unwashed
7. TomP
8. DarthRuvo
9. swordeman
10. durantjerry (benefited from losses by voovits and Jimmy)
11. LMBombers
12. (pwootten or voovits)

I lose tiebreakers to both LMBombers and pwootten.

At least if I don't make it, I got #13!

Good luck!

UGH...Three trips to the semifinals in the tournament and 3 crushing defeats. This time my ace Doc Gooden was primed to win the big game #5 and he gets an injury in the 2nd inning. C'mon HAL...lighten up on me!

OK...It got exciting for a little bit there but I'm now officially waiting for next year. Chess...You did an awesome job with this tourney. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into it.

I never thought I'd make it with the lousy Round 1 and 2 teams I had. Obviously my Round 3 and 4 teams were lights out. :D

BTW, Heads up for the finals league.....I'm leaving town this Sunday for a week and will not be able to load my team next week. I return Sunday the 16th.

we'll make sure everyone in the FINAL 12 will be ready. We have some great Prizes to pick from for the Final 2 plus trophy, games and credits. Bernie or I'll make a prizes announcement in the day. I am awaiting Bernie's announcement on the Mystery Game changes.

I fell to the Wild Card in the semis because HAL doesn't have the sense to remove a pitcher who gives up 9 runs on "Quick Hook". Does quick hook kick in on run #10?

Next year, it will be Jimmy C and Chess2899 holding the 1st two spots of the tourney from day #1 right to the Finals.

I'll post to see who won the bonus items such as the Marichal jersey, etc. I'll need help so I don't have to go through each individual team looking for winners.

I believe James, you also won the Kevin McReynolds autographed ball for winning your division? Correct?

Congratulations to the 12 finalists and the winner of the juiced bat. All well deserved. Thanks, Chess and Bernie, for running a smooth and competitive tournament.

I'm with you, JimmyC. No love from HAL... three trips to the playoffs and three early exits. Oh well, that's just the way the dice roll sometimes.

Just wait till next year!!!!

I'll accept making it any way I can after missing by one point last year, which included losing a finals when I was two outs away from closing it out in game five when my closer was injured.

What were all the prizes again? I remember something about most strikeouts in a game. That was settled in one of the threads, maybe even this one. I'm not about to go through all boxscores.
The other one was wins by a player with the last name starting with M. Was that total for 70s and 80s or one for each game?
Any other prizes?

I totally forgot about that. Awesome! =)
The best part about it is that McReynolds was on my team helping me get that far.

[quote:490cc0fd2a="chess2899"]Bernie now has the standings up to date. Much thanks!

I am #48. Mark my words!

Chess, in recognition of the tremendous job you did running the tournament I tried sooooo hard to let this one go by, but then, well . . . . Maybe if you legally changed your name to Panzer Ace??? :D

This was a blast folks and I hope we get 60 again next year! Thank you all, and good luck to the finalists!!!!

(PS. Jimmy, you were robbed. I thought you played a very good tournament and deserved a spot in the finals.)

Funny, Funny, Funny. I am 5 for 5 with my teams named Panzer Ace with 3 Titles, so maybe ALL of MY 5, yes 5 teams next year will be named Panzer Ace.

We have 2 more months of competition and someone will win big. I am rooting against Hailedog because postage and insurance to Canada costs a small fortune. (Sorry, Al)

Next year (6 months) we'll have more prizes and maybe the 90s Mystery games will be part of the formula.

Jose Canseco asked if he could send some of his "Health Juice" with his bat. He is looking for distributors. :D I'll let the 13th place finisher decide.

Next year we could have a 6 round tourney, 2 70s, 2 80s and 2 90s leagues.
That would be fun.
