mbrake - further to my last post above, it looks like the last thing I said was correct - that you can draft any "eligible" player - including players from the 6 non-participating teams (plus or minus your adjustments to their roster) in the initial draft AS WELL AS the waiver draft. This is from your words "draft/waiver" eligible. This is correct right?

Then, the waiver draft order would be, as usual, based on who got most of their initial draft picks - correct?

All of this is subject to the over-riding rule that you must maintain 19 carded (i.e. your original team, plus or minus the original roster adjustments) players at all times.

This came from mbrake's April 28 posting. Reading this it would seem that in the initial draft we can only choose players from our team plus those over which we specifically have rights to. Reading this, it would seem that only in the waiver draft could we choose players from the Pirates, Royals, etc., that we did not "draft" and who were not selected by another team. I do admit that this might make the waiver selections difficult since everyone would, in this scenerio, get every player they selected. I really don't care which way we finally go (I'll leave it up to mbrake as the league "founder") I just wanted to point out what seems to be current policy.

I am fine either way on how this goes. Partly, I am just really curious how the waiver draft rankings will occur if you are right Carl. In other words, if all 24 teams get 100% of their initial draft picks, how will HAL rank the waiver draft order????

I really don't mind either way - I just want to know which way mbrake intends to go for the initial draft - i.e. whether you can pick some of the free agent pool (non-24 team carded players) on the initial draft, or alternatively, whether you are restricted to the carded players from your team (with mbrake's roster adjustments) plus your 2 round draft picks (for certain teams).

Hey Carl, I just read your post from the previous page (catching up on my reading!).

If you want the Nationals, you can have them. I know this sounds crazy, but I am almost really looking for a true underdog, just for the fun of that! I don't have a "fan" connection to the Nationals, and if you want to pick them, please let me know by a reply to this posting, and I will work on one of the other underdogs - seriously!

You may be interested to note that the Nationals have some interesting advantages in this format (which almost disappointed me in my underdog hunting!) -
-THREE unleashed players (I didn't notice that until quite a while after my posting about picking the Nationals) including a catcher and a weird fielding SS.
-first overall pick in the 2 round draft (who knows ? for the waiver draft!)
-Belliard and Carrol being added to their roster.

Having said that, they have some big challenges as well (probably no surprise there!). If you want, I will send you my thoughts by private email.

Please let me know what you think about picking the Nationals, and let's talk!

My suggestion would be a "randomizer" or go by salary ranking to determine a Draft Order for the extra players. Then I propose we go with a 2 round player draft on the boards so that the key players are picked. The rest of the players would be frenzy. Obviously a 24-team on-thread draft might take some time, but I don't know if there is a fair way to do the extra players other than manually pick them.

The draft order is already set. Look at each team listed in the divisions and you will see their corresponding draft order which repeats in each round.

I too had been wondering about the waiver draft order. I had assumed that we would be doing a forum draft for those 1st two picks then doing the autodraft from our eligible players and as has been pointed out since we could only draft players no one else could pick that we would all have a weighted waiver score of zero and that Hal would be basing the waiver priority on a random draw because that's how the program breaks ties in weighted waivers. In this case it would be a 24 way tie. Unless I'm way off base here once we've done an autodraft we would be locked in to this random draw. Mind you this would be drafting players that are left after we've all protected the best 19 players on our teams and having selected the supposed best 38 players from the teams not involved. Sure there might be a situation where a weaker team might miss out on getting a slightly better player by getting a poor waiver number but I'm sure that most of the really good players are going to be gone during the initial 2 round draft. I think at least its preferable to a frenzy or doing the whole thing on the forums. Apologies if I'm reading this incorrectly and looking forward to it no matter how we end up doing it.
