Republican/Democrat Theme Lg - FULL

Postby gbrookes » Sat May 08, 2010 12:45 pm

I'm travelling on business starting Sunday next week for several days. Sunday is a travel day, and I won't have access to a computer during the afternoon. I will likely have internet access Sunday night and while I am away.

This week coming up, I have a business meeting Monday afternoon, so I could potentially miss the waiver draft and scrum if it were held on Monday.

Between a waiver draft on Monday and a waiver draft on Saturday (1 week from now), I am fine with that, and anytime in between. That would mean putting the last team in before midnight EST between Sunday (tomorrow) and Thursday (next week). I am OK with those dates for the last team being submitted. Call that a yes vote with an earmark!

BTW, I won't be changing my team probably at this point. I am probably settled on my draft order and players, and the problem with popping in and out is the potential to mess up the divisions, so that has to be done quickly. But apart from my own usual intense curiosity, I can wait a few days.

:) Geoff (PS - does that speech sound appropriate coming from a Dem??)

Hey Geoff, quick background on my situation. I married a stunning young little Canadian girl. She was born in Regina but lived in the Calgary area until she moved to America when she was 10 years old.

Her father was a highly educated hospital administrator in Regina. He didn't like the hospital politics or the governmental shenanigans (as he calls it). He decided to start his own business(es) south of Calgary (Cardsten area). He owned various businesses from Ice Cream parlors to a small Hotel. Unfortunately, success is looked at as a financial boon by the Canadian government. He saw America as an opportunity to work hard and keep at least most of what you earned.

He "legally" moved to the states (Idaho Falls, Idaho) in 1983 with 7 kids and started up his own little businesses again and did fairly well. As wonderful as Canada is, he tells us story of governmental interference and the limited freedoms that still go on today...particularly in business. Him and his family are as patriotic Americans as you will ever find. They care about America much more than your average American.

The moral of this long story is that in his 70s, he (and his wife) are feeling a lot of angst that the country they are so proud to be part of, is turning into a high-taxed nanny state.
*On a side note, my wife's parents and all 6 of her brothers and sisters are proud to own their own guns. They think that is the coolest thing! I personally don't own one...but don't have anything against legal possession by responsible people.....even Frank M!

Not to open up another can of worms Jeep, but Dubya put us into this mess that we are in. The momentum caused by 8 years of his crap can't be turned around "overnight".

It's not a political thing when education gets cut. And I'm sorry for Mrs. Jeep. Yet when some 3rd world country needs help, we are there to help them. The powers that be want the general public fat and uneducated. They don't want free/educated thinkers. Fat/uneducated people are much easier to control or scare.

Yes. If you think of the economic and social value of education, it makes you wonder why we don't fund education way more than what we do as a society.

Viz, My above post wasn't a Repub/Dem thing. I'm not going to sit here and say W. was a good President. But, we are not better off with Obama. In fact, all this spending is killing us. We could talk on and on about all the bad stuff that's happening. I wish we could get people in Congress to do the [i:cca8ed778b]right[/i:cca8ed778b] thing and not the [i:cca8ed778b]party [/i:cca8ed778b]thing. It won't happen though.

Has anyone here heard of the "Bilderberg Group"? I hope someone has, it is downright scary. It kinda backs up actually what Visick said, among a lot of other things.

If you don't know who the Bilderberg Group is google it and read some about it.

I'm fat and stupid! I didn't even see that one coming. DAMIT.
Sorry that Mrs. Jeep is out of work. I know how that feels. Been out myself since November of last year. I have had 1 interview and nothing else. Between my unemployment check and not paying day care it's a wash for me. I'm lucky I quess? The wife still works but here in Oregon it is pretty bad as I am sure that other places are not much better. Mike

Actually, I have always been a really big Eagles fan. Great music, but really great lyrics as well. The whole band really knew what they were doing, not just Henley and Frey.
