yeah, no doubt. Nailbiters all the way! We'll see how we do with the injuries for the next couple of days. Hopefully we'll manage.

I'm here, but too frustrated to post. 11 blown saves in 36 games? Bailey is constantly getting whacked.

I need some friendly dice to get my spirits up!

yeah, you got me J. Got worse last night when we were shelled in a sweep.

Oh well, scuffling right now, but I figure the ship will right itself.

Some ratings from the Central

The Ratings say that the Orangmen will come back to Earth and that the Elephants aren't this bad, although they really don't hit RHP at all.

[code:1:29585ab13f]
Team O P F P+F Overall
Winemn 7758 4906 562 5468 2291
Orange 7833 5317 455 5772 2061
Steibs 7550 5104 437 5541 2008
Elepha 7683 5180 197 5377 2306
[/code:1:29585ab13f]

Orange destroys LHp, but is pretty weak v RHP. So fare the numbers don't show that, but I expect that they will will all is said and done.

Steibs O is weak overall.

Elephants should have the best pitching/d of the group. Certainly they shouldn't be last in the league. A lot of that is predicated on Adams pitching well however. That he's carrying a 4.36 ERA tells you a lot about how the season has gone for the Pacaderms.

Hard to compare too much yet. I haven't run the stats for all the divisions yet.

Oh, btw, Pitching and D numbers are better when they're lower.

Hope you enjoy the stats. more to come as time allows.

Flip,

you're certainly not as bad as you've played. Hang in there.

We're starting to scuffle right now. lost 7 of the past 9. Ugh. :(

Flip, you're in a heavily LH park, but you hardly have any LH hitters. Fielder and Ibanez are great for you, but otherwise, you're not taking advantage of your park at all, which explains your home W-L record.

Further, though your division is balanced, the rest of the league is also heavily LH slanted. There are 6 unbalanced LH parks in the league and in each of those you're at a disadvantage.

And worse for you, most of those teams are built for their parks, which means they have an advantage on you both at home and away.

I have great respect for Jet's ratings but in this case I don't think they reflect your true weaknesses.

The first rule of Strat is build a team to fit your park. Then you have to look at the rest of the league.

The beauty of the 80M league is that every team has a weakness somewhere. If you play with top players (and there are at least half a dozen in this league), the game becomes about hiding (or protecting) your weaknesses while exploiting others'.

The Orangemen are able to throw Santana and Martinez without fear at you even in your park in spite of their huge # of LH BP HRs. And normally, RHPs not named Nieve or Baker will struggle in your park, but you make it easy for them.

Anyway, that's my analysis. I don't know if you've read J-Pav's Secret Formula posts, or Marcus Willby's newbie thread, both are full of invaluable information. Whenever my teams are struggling, I reread them and usually there's a clue to where I've veered off the path.

G/L.

I'll have some comments on Edge's thoughts, but that'll come later.

For tonight I have to vent a bit. We've lost six straight series! This is killing me. I know we're better than this! Ugh. Still above .500, but gets old. Come on you bozos, win a friggin' series will ya!?! :x

Losing Choo for six of seven games (can't he get something less than the maximum?) hasn't helped any.

OK, end of rant, you can return to your regularly scheduled forum reading.
