In last night's 2003 games I faced 3 lefty starters. BGiles(3) starts in lf and Jordan(3 in rf, but 2 in lf) plays rf. Kearns(2) plays rf vs r, and is set as a def sub in rf (jordan is set as def sub for lf)- What usually happens is that with a lead vs a lefty starter, Hal brings in Kearns for rf to replace jordan(who goes out of the game)-and that is exactly what happened in games 1 &3. However, in game two BGiles, batting 5th, made the last out of the seventh inn; we didn't score and were BEHIND 7 to 6. Hal then removed BGiles, replacing him with Kearns playing rf with Jordan moving to lf- in effect this replaces a pair of 3's in lf & rf with 2's- But we were losing by a run. As it happened, Kearns came up in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs, runners on second and third, still down by a run- and he....walked (!) to load the bases before burks made the last out.-
BGiles was not injured and he is not set to be removed for a defensive sub-
Anyone else have Hal make a defensive move for you when you were behind?
