Not any kind of record but check the # of doubles J Bench hit for me in a recently completed season...not the guy you think of hitting lots of doubles and also interesting because while he was on a good card for doubles, its still prob his worst overall card

By the way...this team actually started 4-17

That's why Bench is so expensive/good. He's a monster defensively and has no real awful cards offensively.

While on the subject of interesting non-records, check out the doubles by Tim Foli 76 for one of my teams.
Not quite 56 doubles, but 49 doubles in 200 fewer ABs is crazy.
Also on the same team Mike Ivie of all people hits 55 homeruns.

Double Trouble

Postby kenhutchings » Thu May 20, 2010 11:33 pm

With eight series remaining in the season, Jim Holt on my team is third in the league in batting average and tied with Johnny Bench for most doubles. Mike Tyson, another $0.75 player (not on my team, though), leads this league in triples. In fact, he has more triples than my entire team!!

Thanks for the advice, voovits!! :)

Ken, that's a bad link.
When posting a link to the league leaders, you need to copy the group ID of the league. You could find the group ID in the link to any boxscore from that league.
Example:

Hey jmc, after looking at your link, I realized you used 12 pitchers that season. No wonder games against you dragged on forever, 'there goes jmc to the mound for another pitching change...'. Bench had to squat too much that year.

As pathetic as my team was I would have used 14 pitchers if they would have let me!!!

So much for the hope that $0.75 players would lead this league in both 2Bs and 3Bs. Holt has sustained an eight game injury with Bench ahead of him 43-41.

Oh, well, it was fun while it lasted.

BTW, this is the second time I've had Holt on a team, and both times I've been fortunate to end up with his '73 season.

Jim Holt

Howdy,

I usually try to get Holt or Brohamer. One year Brohamer clubbed 14 HRs for me at Arlington Stadium as a cheapo DH vs. RHP.
Holt is versatile and has one good offensive card. Never even considered Bench; I tend to chose "Pitcher's" parks. Might be time for a re-think on Bench.
