One Game Per Night?

Postby keyzick » Thu Jun 17, 2010 7:46 am

Couple observations (not pro or con, just thoughts....)

- Aren't the "lightening leagues" already accomodated with the CD-Rom version? I know I've seen posts where people have loaded up their CD version with the rosters that are in a league, and run like 50 simulations to see the results.

- The one game a night and full season per night are about as polar opposite as it gets. One is to give more game by game matchup control, the other completely takes that away.

Personally, I like the current version. There still could be some more intuitive tweeks/additions to settings to address matchups, without having to go to a one game a night version. As for the lightning league...I think I'd kind of feel cheated...like I just gave $5 or whatever amount, to instantaneously see a full season's final standings. For me, there's nothing like getting up and going through the boxscores of results each morning (make that several boxscores for several leagues)...watching streaks develop, slumps, etc.., all unfold day by day, 21 games a week!

How about simply giving managers control over EACH of the three games played each night, rather than a blanket Strategy for the whole series?

That accomplishes the "one-game-a-night" control, yet keeps the season moving.

Thoughts?

Love the lightning league idea!

Maybe not a WHOLE season in one night, but maybe 24 games a night, done in a week.

That would be great.

In response to Keyzick, I'm an avid CD-ROM player and you are completely right, that's a great use for it. Where it falls short is that your only competing against the computer, and the CDROM game has a less than stellar computer drafting model and computer generated CM.

Most of the CD-ROM leagues I am in are head to head online or we play our away games vs the other managers Super Hal CMs.

The lightning season concept does not take in to account the extra stress on the servers of playing 54 times as many games every night.

The 1 game a night idea probably is dead on arrival though have no problem with it personally except seasons would take forever. I would really like to see the playoffs go 1 game per night.

Artie said it best, individual game control would be better than one game per night. I know we all have unique ideas and interests, but I don't see how anyone could enjoy one game per night. A season that lasts over 5 months? I don't think so.

I've suggested the "lightning" idea before, well close to, my idea was 1/4 per night (so you can make changes to your rosters, etc) with no changes after the 3rd night (3/4 season), followed by a day off, then 1 entire playoff series in one night, followed by the other, so one league would take exactly 7 days.

never really got a response from Bernie on it :?

1 week season Bernie?

Postby chasenally » Thu Jun 17, 2010 4:48 pm

I would like to hear from Bernie if this is possible. A one week season would be fun. From the posts that I have read most managers don't change much of anything during the season. Injuries would be a problem in the lighting league but all have the same problem there. If it was $1.99 a season I would play many as it's over quick. I spread out my credits for the long haul. When a team starts to look like it is out of the running I start a new one, which is many of them. The theme leagues could get really wild with this. I would play a season that had you only draft players that have mothers named Mildred and Marge if that was the case  .

I would like to see the one game per day option available since it would facilitate keeper leagues and simulate the "stress and anxiety" of a six-month season.

Agree, though I too would enjoy the individual game control mentioned by Artie and seconded by Jeep.
