Does anyone know how it works with spot starters?

Suppose I have a guy I want to use in relief (he has a starter -reliever rating) but occassionally want to spot start. How does this work from a rest standpoint? If he spost starts, does that mean he can't relieve until he gets 4 days of rest? If he relieves, does that mean he can't spot start until he gets 4 days of rest? Or is it something else...

If he has relieved and then spot starts before his 4 days rest he comes in fatigued and visa verses (sp) is my understanding.

Only use the per game starters leave the rotation blank.. then he can go back and forth...
