Search for old posts

How do I search for old posts not on the first page? When I press past pages, it takes me to posts from 2005!

I don't. At the top, right of this forum it says "Go to page 1, 2, 3 ..... 144, 145, 146, Next". When I click on "2" it takes me to posts from 6/7/10 to 5/17/10. What happens when you click on "2"?
If you click on "146" you will go back to the first page of threads when the forum started in 2005.

Seems to work fine to me, using mozilla.
You can also search through google. At google.com, write site:forums.sportingnews.com xyz, xyz being your query.

There used to be a feature on the boards that allowed this and was a great help when researching specific items but I think they got rid of it when the boards where upgraded.
