My guess is, he gets to reserve his pick, until Nelson results come through. The delay, if there is one, will also allow me more time to try and borrow some extra funds for bidding!

I think this a judgment call, but in our last league, generally the pick got passed, I'm not sure anyone ever got to reserve a pick.

I believe what we did in the live bidding auction when a similar situation arose, was that the nomination did drop down, however the person it slid down to was not obligated to nominate,, but could pass the nomination again.
I'm not sure that is really a sound approach.

I think it should simply be that the nomination slides to the next available person.

In this case, that is me. So, I will nominate a pitcher in a moment or two...
