If you want, I could text you names of new players nominated, put my bid in and then take your bid if there was someone you were really interested in. Just pm the number to text.

Believe it or not, all I have is a prepaid TracFone for emergencies, so I am unable to text msg., but thanks for the offer.

I am curious to know what everyone in our league does (or did) for a living.

I'll start.

I edit educational assessments for students in grade school through high school. Most of my work is to edit test questions for annual statewide assessments. I also edit reports, manuals, answer documents, public reports, and more - all related to school testing.
I come from a journalism background. I spent six years at a daily paper in New Hampshire's capital as a layout specialist, proofreader, and columnist. Then I spent eight years as editor and publisher of a start-up, monthly, statewide, arts and entertainment magazine. During the time of running the magazine I also worked as a pizza delivery guy, a banquet captain at an inn, a concert producer and promoter, and one year writing a column for the state's largest paper (the magazine got as far as paying for itself, but not me).
I spent three years between the magazine and my current job as the features editor (and night editor) for a small, free daily in northern NH.
But during my stint at that last paper I became a father and after a year of not being home for dinnertime and bedtime, I decided I needed to get away from the newspaper life. Thankfully.

Bill

So, what are your stories?

Pediatrician, married 25 years and have 2 sons. One is a Freshman at Michigan State and the other will be a Junior in high school.

I work in a community hospital in the western suburbs of St. Louis and split my time working in our very busy Pediatric Emergency room, taking care of children who are admitted to the hospital, and caring for babies in the newborn nursery. My hours are haphazard as I work shifts including nights and many weekends.

Many years ago I was in a private office, but much like Bill, my practice (which I enjoyed) kept me away from my kids and wife. I left that practice and went to work for the hospital when my youngest was 11 months old and was able to drastically cut my work hours, get a lot more free time and some protected regular vacation time.

I live and work in Siem Reap, Cambodia (it's a major international tourist destination - Angkor Wat is 3.5 miles from our front door) where I own a small hotel/restaurant. And yes we are getting absolutely murdered this year due to the economy. I opened our place in 2004. Prior to that I worked in Asia as a travel writer and photographer, which as is the case with most people, it's a great lifestyle in that you can travel for nothing, but you also make nothing - which is why most travel writers are young and single. I got married in 2004 and have two boys. One just turned five, the other is eight months. I've lived in Asia, either in Bangkok, Thailand or Siem Reap, Cambodia, since 1997.

I grew up in the Philadelphia area and am still a die-hard Philly sports fan (all four teams) even if I've only lived there for three of the last 25 years. Say what you will about us Philly sport fans, we are if anything, genuine.

Prior to living in Asia I worked in the courier industry doing everything from riding a bike in Washington DC as a summer college job to supervising three dozen drivers and running ops.

We had hoped to move back to the USA this year - to the SF Bay area, but due to economical reasons (our own as well as the world's), it looks like we have to delay that a year or so.

Once back in the USA I will continue in the food and hospitality industry, food first - operating some kind of take-away Thai food business in San Francisco.

And I never blamed Mitch Williams. I blamed Curt Schilling from day one.

I work for a Health Insurance company that is in the fortune 100. I started working in IT for the company and now work in a business area. Mainly I try to understand what our four major competitors' contracts are with hospitals and doctors. I work with a lot of actuaries and analysts who are working toward being actuaries. I used to work in Louisville, KY and now live and work in Rome, NY. I work from home therefore, I really can't complain about my work.

I am thinking about starting my own business this fall. I would like to run a sports simulation business online. I plan on offering baseball first. I don't plan on licensing SOM so it will not be just like this game, but I do plan on using real players with cards and dice. I plan on offering the 2009 season first. If it works out, I will expand the baseball offering and then branch out into other sports. When I am ready for testing online, I would be happy to have any of you play for free and test it if you would like.

I will write about myself soon. But first I wanted to reflect on the draft. I don't think this team is near as strong as my last ATGV auction team. That team was scary half way through but got some great acquisitions at the end. On this team I have made a lot of mistakes. The biggest overall thing is that in my last (and for me my first) ATG auction, People paid $10 or more for a lot of players, and after a while the bottom fell out of the market, and great guys could be had cheap. So my strategy of getting two big names (Ruth and Gibson in that league0 and then waiting for the prices to go down, worked well.
In this league, the bidding was lower at the beginning, and there were fewer mid-range bargains. I finished 2nd or 3rd on player after player that I wanted. ( Boudreau, Hack Wilson, Torriente, to name a few)
I have also been lazy and never really analyzed what is out there, I have never played in a regular ATG league. I am rectifying that now.

The minute this league is done, I want to start another one, and see if I can do it better next time!

Born in Toronto Canada a long, long time ago. I am getting close to being as old as dirt.

Three absolutely wonderful kids, yup including the younger Howser, and 5 grandchildren. Love em all to bits.

Married to a Saint!

Moved to the USA back in the 90's, and love both Countries, Canada and the USA, equally, although when it comes to hockey, I am very loyal to my place of birth.

Realtor in Florida since coming here, but with the economy going down the drain, our business suffered greatly, and now I am spending most of my time day trading stocks, and trying to figure out my ATGV teams!

Favorite, Favourite in Canada, sports moment.....Touch em all Joe, you'll never hit a bigger one (sorry Gorshar) Blue Jays winning the World Series against Phillies.......AND, Canada winning Gold in Hockey in the last olympics.

I am with Litangel on wanting to do this again as soon as this draft is over with! Made some mistakes and hopefully will learn from them.

Doug, the elder Howser

I'm 55 and I have made my living as the senior member of a team that leads and organizes a workshop called Heart of Now (similar concepts to the book the Power of Now). I love leading the workshops, I have one of those rare jobs where I get to make a difference. I also have to do a lot of business stuff as part of my job, marketing writing budgets, etc. And that I could take or leave.
In my off time I love to dance and sing, one of my goals is to make my life more like a musical. Just last night I had a karaoke birthday party for the 18th year in a row. My current favorite karaoke song is Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This" the song she won American Idol with.
Some people in the Strat community have guessed my gender wrong, my name is Kim, and I am male. My parents named me after a boy from named India named Kim who was the main character of a Rudyard Kipling book and movie.
I live in Eugene, Oregon and love it here., ocean, mountains, progressive culture.
