Biggest Surprises

Biggest Surprises

After 9 games who are some of the biggest surprises on your team or on some other team in your league?

Here are some from my leagues:

Tony Clark in US Cell - .432 BA, 14 R, 16 RBI, 11 HR
Kotsay .345 in US Cell - .355 BA, 5 R, 6 RBI, 3B, 3 HR (great for the $$)
Griffey, JR in US Cell - .447 BA, 11 R, 11 RBI, 2 2B, 6 HR
Carlos Silva in US Cell - 0.00 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, 15.1 IN

I know it is only 9 games so you can't say these guys will keep it up but it is fun to look at the stats anyway.

I am in 2 leagues and Tony Clark is leading the league in HRs in both. He seems so far to be a bargain player to me if you play in a HR park especially.

Not sure I would call Clark a surprise. He has 12.9 natural HRs and 8 BPHRs against RHP.

Well, the season hasn't started but my backup 2B and alternate DH is Garabito and does he have a card. I'd never heard of the guy. Just found him when I searched the Colorado roster to try and find guys that would be good in Coors.

If 11 HR in 9 games is not a surprise then I don't know what is. :? That would equate to 198 HR in a season barring injury of course.

Yeah, except that 9 games is not a statistically significant sample. And that type of aberrational outcome is completely reasonable given the card.

Which makes this entire thread a joke. Sorry, I guess I'll wait till the mid-point of the season and post this question again. If Clark as 99 HR by then I guess it will be time to think he might be somewhat of a surprise! :P
