Logically perhaps HBPs should count, but practically they shouldn't. The present system allows you to tell at a glance if someone qualifies for the 600 (or 680) "PA" plateau. Otherwise, you would need an outside reference that tells you how many HBPs a batter has since SOM does not give you that info. (Yes, in Mauer's case you could simply see he [i:5ad6076877]has [/i:5ad6076877]a HBP chance, but that isn't as easy as simply adding AB+BB.)
