$200 million 25 man keeper league. We're FULL...FINALLY

Postby FRANKMANSUETO » Tue Jul 06, 2010 8:33 am

Keyzick, the seasons played prior to this allowed only 25 protected players season to season. I have upped that to 30 for the next season. Like I said I ultimately am looking for 40 man rosters and then draft. Let me give it some more thought and see what I can come up with.

No, I understood the upping of the keepers from 25 to 30. I meant, for instance, after our first draft this year, we all basically have 40-man rosters from which we would have then chosen to protect 25 of them once the 2010 set came out.

Now with this 2nd 2009 season draft, everyone is essentially losing the rights to 10 players they'd originally hoped to possibly capitalize on with next year's set.

It may be a stretch to say the 10 guys I have to cut loose will be studs next year, but you get my point.

Like I said though, it doesn't hurt my team too much, cause I think I'd be hard-pressed to find 25 great cards next year, based on my current roster. But some guys may be in that situation.

I dunno, maybe it's no big deal, but just wanted to point it out so we can mull it over now rather than in the middle of the draft.

I see the points for both.

1. To be able to have a second season, it makes sense that guys should be able to tweak their rosters if they didn't do well in season 1. Also, since half the real baseball season is over, guys may want to make adjustments to their prospects.

2. On the other hand, everyone had made some projections for the 2010 season and thought that they could keep all of the players that were drafted.

My team won 87 games... but I see that #1 is the best way to go. Keeping 30 guys should suffice for next year's opening season. At the same time, we can add some fun to season 2 for this year by being able to upgrade our current teams or perhaps roll the dice for some of the surprises of the 2010 season and draft guys no one ever thought of earlier in the year.

OK, this is what I am looking to do. The 30 players stand. We do a 10 round draft for prospects/players for season #2 and beyond. Therefore we already have our 40 man rosters going into next season. We then do another 10 round draft bringing our rosters to 50. After season #1 we protect the 40 keepers. Confusing? I hope not.

Sounds good to me...I did bad with my predictions for 2010 success with some of my choices anyway.

(Fowldawg) I lost the list of players I drafted and can't find the link on diamond dope. Does anyone have a record of the draft? Also, do we have to drop 10 or can we drop fewer and have less picks? I drafted assuming we were still playing only one season.
