Billy's Bombers protect

Dave Kingman

PS. We might need one replacement manager. I'll make a separate post if we do.

Avenue A keepers:

Larry Bowa
Darrell Evans
Darrell Porter

seems like a pretty pathetic group of keepers.

PM770, you are in the wrong decade. That is the 1983 Phillies.

Statistical tidbit, in 1983, at age 39, Morgan stole 18 bases and was caught just 2 times.

The 83 Phillies also had Tony Perez and were sometimes called the Big Dead Machine. But they won their division despite playing Pete Rose for a full season at 1st. That year, Rose had an OBP of just .316 with no HRs in 493 AB; ugh.

To my great shame. I hadn't even realized that until now. I was thinking Schmidt was "kinda, sorta" a Red because he grew up in the Cincy area.

I hadn't heard that one. I remember them being referred to as The Wheez Kids.

Wasn't it in late September and the postseason that they started using the illustrious Len Matzusak? If I remember correctly, he provided that extra kick into the postseason.
