I have won with both Lind and Borbon in LF in 2009. I have also won with Vladdy(2, e20) in RF with Canseco/Hill(Both 5's, e13) at DH/LF and again with a three man rotation of Canseco, Hill & Jacob Cruz(3, e13) in LF/RF. I think it is a reasonable experiment, as I almost tried it in for Tour Team #2($60/No-DH). Post a link to your team. There was a discussion about winning with Bad "D" in JPav's 2008 annual post.

My goal was to get 270HR's while spending $30mil on a pitching staff.

I'm debating whether to lose Street and upgrade Ian Stewart to Zimmerman.

Not my team, but in a $60 million 24 team league I was in, this team won 102 with Braun in LF full time and Catalanatto in RF against righties (69-31 vs RH starters).

Definitely get rid of Street for Zimmerman. Street's bpHRs will kill you. Aardsma and Vargas will be plenty of relief anyways. I'd also look to get a lefty specialist, and perhaps swap out one of those lefty starters for a similarly priced righty. Really all of your starters are vulnerable to the long ball. That could be a problem at Yankee Stadium.

Just curious why that is your goal?
How about 350 HR's and $18 on pitching?
I don't like your team for a couple of reasons:
1)Playing two fives in Yankee Stadium to me is committing to outbashing your opponents, which is a noble endeavor. Then you have a decent starting staff and THREE expensive relievers. It seems you are still trying to embrace a balanced team approach(or maybe overbalanced towards pitching), when IMO you threw that concept out the window when you went with the two fives. IMO, playing two fives means you have to score a lot and not concentrate on run prevention as the two fives just don't play into a run prevention strategy. As Dave says, one reliever must go. I would also ditch Johnson and go with another cheap starter($3.00 or so). I just don't think trying to be balanced is the way to go when using two fives on defense.
2)You really don't have any good hitters except maybe Lind. The rest of the guys are seventh batters(Hill, Cameron, Stewart, Gomes, the catchers) or lower who will pop out 30 or so HR's but may have trouble breaking .250 and won't have that good of an OBP. You need some top of the order hitters to get on base. As it stands now, you could stretch Uggla and Gomes to bat at the top with their good OBP side and bat Tulo third, but that still leaves you a guy short at the top and questionable OBP after #4.

I completely agree with durantjerry. If you really want to employ the strategy of two 5 rated defenders (which is fine, for whatever your reason is), you're going to have shift your team's overall strategy. Here's an $80M team (below) that won me a ring in Coors. Aaron Hill hit surprisingly well and Lind was a bit disappointing. I was going for more of a balanced approach to get some premium defenders. I think you have to go more extreme on pure hitters if you want your goal of 270 HRs.

i agree with my fellow compartiates, but

man you need to be stud everywhere wlse, and i dont think your catcher is good enough defensively. the infield is good, but man that catcher x is everywhere and it will cost you. I learned the hard way, i had an all 1 defense with posada catching on one of the years he was a 3 e8 +2 or something and he killed me with like 20 passed balls, and 180 opponent steals.

can huston street, what an overpriced dud. i would move on a catcher, not a 3rd baseman

Thanks for all the input. I went with Zimmerman and lost Street.

I'll update this thread after I reach HR 270. :)

Getting Cordero is ideal. I would also dump Ardsma and let Cordero close, as he is perfect for your park and team. Cheap with no #HR's. You know what I would do with the $$$=More Hitting!!!
