Whatever became of Ben Zobrist?

This strategy is illogical. His card does not change regardless of his past performance. Though I recommend a different 3B (and Weeks and Coghlan are very similar offensively, creating a redundancy), I would suggest a lineup more like this (assuming an E pitcher):

vs RHP:

1. Choo RF
2. Schumaker LF
3. Mauer C
4. Zobrist
5. McCutchen CF
6. Coghlan DH
7. Butler 1B
8. Andrus SS
9. Headley 3B

vs LHP:

1. Mauer C
2. McCutchen CF
3. Zobrist 2B
4. Butler 1B
5. Choo RF
6. Coghlan LF
7. Weeks DH
8. Headley 3B
9. Andrus SS

Try this out for a while and see what you think.

Thanks. I will give it a shot. Any 3B for under $2M that you like?

For under $2M, nah. Might as well stick with 600+ PA Headley. Unfortunately, 3B is probably the weakest position in this year's set.

Do not drop Zobrist in the batting order. Past results have no bearing on future results. The only thing that matters is the card. Zobrists has a great card!!! Do not be so bummed out, you still have a chance. Just listen to these guys, they know what they are talking about. Zobrist still has a great card. He should be batting in the top 3 at all times. Good luck..

I would be more helpful, but I'm still in shock that Blackburn's ERA is in the 3s. I haven't seen him have an ERA under 6 yet in the 2009 game.......whenever anyone actually ever uses him.

The one thing that alarms me is to see how many players that you have cycled through so early in the season. Good luck.

My advice for the future: do all of your trading before the season starts, and then trust your decisions (based on logical card probabilities) rather than getting emotional over the performance of a player and executing a quick trade. Pretty much what everyone else has been saying here, too. Hope it works out -

ERA

Postby BeltranFebles » Sun Aug 15, 2010 2:03 pm

Blackburn's ERA is down to 2.85 and 5 of his 7 starts have been quality starts. Although, I must admit it's a bit shocking to me as well. It must the positive influence of my pitching coach - Oil Can Boyd. Now you guys are probably going to tell me that pitching coaches have NO effect in this game either? Yeah, right.

My current 2009 team did something similar: They started out on fire, and it looked like I really put together a great team. Fast forward a couple weeks and they are barely above .500 and have a negative run differential.

What changes did I make to bring about this negative change of fortune? None! That's just the nature of the game. Never, never, never read too much into a short stretch of games. I'll define "short" as less than 80 games; I'm exaggerating only slightly!

And heed what rmilter said above. If a player has a great card, it isn't any worse just because he's slumping. If anything, it should give you hope for more wins in the future when the card finally comes around.

Is McCutchen a good fit for AT&T?
