LOTO 2006 WARMUP LEAGUE...

Postby ANDREWLAITURI » Thu Mar 23, 2006 9:46 am

Well 5pm can't get here soon enough. I've got a strange looking team at the moment and if I get the guys I'm going after I may still have some tweaking and swapping to do to make the team look coherent.

Kind of an odd looking card set this year and the pricing has definately made building a team a little more interesting. Rob was right, either the cards are one sided and can't hit the broadside of a barn the other way or they have a great stick but can't field or they can field but can't hit!

Tyber,

If you want to feel better about your team, just take a look at mine !! There's a reason I get the first spot in the waivers, I GOT nobody ! And with my waiver choices I'm not sure I'm heading this team in the right direction ! :?

Jeff

p.s. Happy Frenzy everybody...2 minutes and counting !! :D

Well this oughta be interesting, I've got a boatload of money poured into my offense and a bully that probably couldn't stop a little league team.

I just wonder how this one is gonna turn out? I've been looking over the league though and there really are some unique and interesting looking teams out there. Seems like we're all trying something a bit different in trying to figure these cards out. I have a feeling that this league may well be one for the ages before it's all said and done.

Well I pulled the trigger on a couple of moves in an effort to shore up a bullpen that I was just totally hating on. I wasn't overly fond of giving up offense to do it but I just felt like if I didn't get another horse in the bully I was gonna be totally screwed. Well the season will tell whether or not I made the right choice???

BTW Big, sold my Brian Moore and VG-88 and bought a Nashville Tele and a Fender Cyber Twin. Love the new sound.

Ok I REALLY need to have this league start already before I get too edgy and start changing my team all around again! :?

I don't have enuf of a feel for the 06' set...

To know if I actually like my team or not...What I do like is that I got most of the players I picked, so win or lose, it will be on my terms - and that is all I ever ask.

Of my top 11 picks, the only 2 i missed out on were Ichiro(#5) and Wells(11th). I took 2 CF's just in case. The other 5 I missed out on were all after # 16 and easily replaced. Then I got everyone except Ellison(Only .62) from Waivers.

I don't think my team BA will be above .230, but I think it will score runs nevertheless. But my Pitching is exactly what I wanted. and I am hoping for decent enuf numbers there to get me a post season appearance.

Last year(05') was the very 1st time since SOM inception that I abandoned my usual strategy of strong Pitching and defense with enough power and OBP to score in 1 sided power parks like Wrigley or Safeco.

But the dearth of quality pitching and no guarantee of getting anyone I wanted with my high pix caused me to go for position players(With Bonds usually my 1st pick).

This year it is the other way around - Tons of available pitching and very little quality hitting, so the high pix will definitely be the Arods, Roberts etc...

So basically back top my old strategies again. GL everyone...Robert
