[quote:4189b14ac4]Smitty, I can appreciate how you feel and (believe it or not) I've felt that way myself on occasion; but sometimes life, work, and technology get in the way of keeping up. Somehow I just simply missed that we had this draft at this time and since it has been unexpectedly brutal for me to keep an open line, I've been sporadic in my managing of my Keepers this past month. I do not know if I held things up, but I've been passed over, so now it is my problem to go back and try to find out how to put in late picks. [/quote:4189b14ac4]
Cubit - I certainly appreciate your sentiments and acknowledge that life can get in the way. I've definitely had it happen to me periodically. I know, being in a couple of leagues with you, that you make strong efforts to let people know you're situation and make arrangements. And, when you are missed or skipped, you don't create a bluff about quitting because you were somehow cheated. I have never quit a league, even when something happens I disagree with. You state your argument, and move on.
But, I don't understand not checking in for a week or two (especially if you don't inform anyone). If someone is unable to check in enough to be an active participant, then maybe that person should not be in a keeper league. These leagues are a commitment, and it's not fair to those who sign up and maintain regular contact that others hold things up, and then complain when things don't go their way. If you can't check in (and haven't made arrangements), then you must accept the consequences (as in your case) of your inability to do so.
Even in this ongoing draft, even with my constant checking in, I missed my pick yesterday because I had in-laws in town and just plain forgot. And wouldn't you know it, Qksilver took my pick (Mike Sweeney - Damn you QK).
Finally, as far as this draft goes, I have come to the realization that I think it is unnecessary in a 24 team league when so many people must be on the same page (for such little reward). I think a FA agent draft and a Prospect draft once a year is challenge enough. I do maintain, however, that we should play two seasons per year, as the shift in divisional alignment allows more opportunity, and we all know players can have dramatically different results from season to season.
