I agree with Lopp on this one; there needs to be some way to readjust for the worst teams between seasons.

I'm not sure if this is the best time to hold this vote, with some bad feelings obviously still lingering from this draft. Perhaps we can table this until after the first 2010 season?

I personally think the supplemental draft is a helpful way of maintaining some parity in the league. Maybe some more managers will agree with me after 1) they see where they are after playing a season next year and 2) they've had some time to cool down from this draft, which I think we all agree could've been done better (from all sides).

I'd hate to see the league make a rash decision based on a single bad experience....especially when the experience could've been MUCH better if everyone involved gave a little more effort.

Just my .02

[quote:4189b14ac4]Smitty, I can appreciate how you feel and (believe it or not) I've felt that way myself on occasion; but sometimes life, work, and technology get in the way of keeping up. Somehow I just simply missed that we had this draft at this time and since it has been unexpectedly brutal for me to keep an open line, I've been sporadic in my managing of my Keepers this past month. I do not know if I held things up, but I've been passed over, so now it is my problem to go back and try to find out how to put in late picks. [/quote:4189b14ac4]

Cubit - I certainly appreciate your sentiments and acknowledge that life can get in the way. I've definitely had it happen to me periodically. I know, being in a couple of leagues with you, that you make strong efforts to let people know you're situation and make arrangements. And, when you are missed or skipped, you don't create a bluff about quitting because you were somehow cheated. I have never quit a league, even when something happens I disagree with. You state your argument, and move on.

But, I don't understand not checking in for a week or two (especially if you don't inform anyone). If someone is unable to check in enough to be an active participant, then maybe that person should not be in a keeper league. These leagues are a commitment, and it's not fair to those who sign up and maintain regular contact that others hold things up, and then complain when things don't go their way. If you can't check in (and haven't made arrangements), then you must accept the consequences (as in your case) of your inability to do so.

Even in this ongoing draft, even with my constant checking in, I missed my pick yesterday because I had in-laws in town and just plain forgot. And wouldn't you know it, Qksilver took my pick (Mike Sweeney - Damn you QK).

Finally, as far as this draft goes, I have come to the realization that I think it is unnecessary in a 24 team league when so many people must be on the same page (for such little reward). I think a FA agent draft and a Prospect draft once a year is challenge enough. I do maintain, however, that we should play two seasons per year, as the shift in divisional alignment allows more opportunity, and we all know players can have dramatically different results from season to season.

So:

1. tcochran - No
2. thisisray - No
3. litangel Yes
4. The Turtle - No
5. Page2-Yes
6. Mike Lopp - Yes
7. cshannajr - No

What I think we should do is

1) either accept our sup draft as it is or redo it, I think [b:d0e7ae8b51]that[/b:d0e7ae8b51] is the vote we should be doing,

2) the vote on further 2nd seasons can wait til later, as Albert suggested

3) If we decide to have 2nd seasons, we have to have a volunteer to share commish duties with Chuck, There are several types of commish duties, and I think it is important to make clear exactly who is doing what. There is the draft, making rosters, major decisions that come up and communications. Chuck do you want someone to take over your duties now for this second season?

I also think we need to make very clear what the responsibilities of managers are, make them reasonable and clear, like " drops must be made by such and such a date, you must check in by such and such a date, etc. Then send those by both PM and e-mail, and then stick to what we have asked for.

Another vote:

Should we keep the results of the supplemental draft for this year, or should we redo?

The signs of a well run league, by the commissioner, is one in which there is very little controversy. I, obviously, bit off a little more than I could chew.

I would like to hand off my duties as commish of this league at this time. If anyone is interested, please let me know. If there is more than one volunteer, I suppose you can share duties and work it out amongst yourselves. I will continue on until someone steps up, however.

I am not giving up my team. I just can't keep up with being in "charge", so to speak, of a 24 team league like this.

I apologize to everyone for the confusion and controversy I have caused, due to my lack of attention to detail.

I nominate Kaviskdad to maintain the official rosters as it is without question his brainchild and forte.

I nominate Litangel to run official drops and drafts (and the necessary communiques)

And I nominate Cshannajr to remain as Commish simply to resolve any league disputes over rules and make clarifications if necessary.

Is this arrangement sensible? and acceptable?

And here's my vote on this draft:

Should we keep the results of the supplemental draft for this year, or should we redo?

1. litangel - Keep
2. cshannajr - Keep
3. Smitty - keep

Chuck, I think you did a great job with a large task, there were some gray areas that in hindsight could have been handled better at the end, but that is just being human.
I want to appreciate you for all the good work you have done in pulling this together.
