Waiver Claim Deadline

Waiver Claim Deadline

Postby The Godfather » Sat Aug 21, 2010 1:27 pm

I may be alone in thinking this (or it may have been a topic of past discussion prior to my time), but does the variable Waiver Claim Deadline seem.......inconvenient......to anyone else?

I'm talking about when it falls on a weekday. I'm on the West Coast without internet access at work, so a 2:00pm deadline really puts a crimp in my roster plans. By the time I get home, any contingencies that I had planned went out the window several times over. I'm assuming it can be hard for East Coast people too, unless they can teleport home at exactly 5:00pm.

Has there been any discussion about having it on a set weekend day? For example, if the Waiver Claim Deadline was always on Saturday (no matter what the time), I think it would still give time for any post-waiver add/drops or trades to occur before the season starts.

Does anyone else agree with this?

It's been brought up for discussion before. I agree, 5pm EST is an odd time, even for us East Coast folks. As for the Saturday suggestion, well, some of us work Saturdays too, so having them all fall on any specific day of the week is just as bad.

Do what I do. I plan it so waivers always fall on my 2 days off, which right now, is Tuesday and Thursday. If it's a league from the present set, chances are if you join a league with 8 already in, and it's not after 5 or 6 o'clock, you'll time it perfectly to fit within your schedule. If it gets near cut-off time and it's not filled up, you can always opt out and wait for the next league, if you feel it's a must to be there for waivers.

I may miss out on a league or two that looks competitive, but I always know I'll be available for waivers.

Thanks for the tip! I'm still getting used to auto-draft (primarily played live draft before) so I guess this is just part of the planning process...

I agree. I live in NY & work until 6-7pm. The waivers at 5pm ESt is probably the worst time possible (for me) on a week day.

JMO- but it should be moved to maybe 10pm EST.
