Thought it might be somewhat interesting since he's a S5, so there probably aren't many no hitters thrown by him. In general he's been terrible for me sporting a 4.5+ ERA most of the season at Kauffman on a team with a team ERA under 3. I'm pretty sure this my only team ever to have two no hitters. Earlier in the season Washburn threw one.

Interesting thing about the no-no. In the 5th inning, he started by plunking the first three batters!

And Punto made the last out of the game getting caught stealing!

Am I reading it right that Hal hit and ran with Tex in the bottom of ninth?

Interesting first sentence of the boxscore write-up, "Edinson Volquez(8-6) was on top of his game in Lindsay LoHan........."

LOL!

Hey OakAth72, I remember watching those Oakland Athletics teams of the early 70's - what a great dynasty that was! Joe Rudi, Reggie Jackson, Sal Bando, Gene Tenace, Catfish Hunter, Blue Moon Odom, Vida Blue, Rollie Fingers. That was a hall of fame team for sure!

Back on the subject of Volquez, I really like him as a pitcher in any year, but his card in 2009 is very cool. I have had him on several of my teams. As you would expect, some years are better or worse than others, but overall he has never disappointed me on any team! In one recent league I do not have him, and I sure don't like pitching for the opposition!

Meant to say, "I sure don't like him pitching FOR the opposition."

I was born and raised in the Bay Area with my first introduction to baseball being the A's teams of the early 70's......sitting in the bleachers right behind Rudi for $2.00. They used to have a mechanical rabbit holding a basket full of baseballs that would rise out of the ground behind the homeplate to resupply the umpire. Charley Finley......supergenious.
