Status of Thursday night's games

Ignorance is Bliss

[quote:586b756eec="El-Saltman"]I still split my finals games- where I had my pitchers being the ones yanked, but now I have 2 players on the DL- including Ty Cobb:x
and have gone from sweeping a series to being swept.
Feels Bad.[/quote:586b756eec]

Wow!! And ouch....

I usually check my scores late at night, but yesterday was an exception...
since I never saw the deleted games, I don't and really can't miss them.

Feel sorry for the guys seeing "replacement" results that are worse than
the original.

I don't know Bernie but I like what I do know about him. I am sure he tested the DH app some but maybe something got missed in testing. This pitcher removal did not happen to every team so it must be a weird glitch that did not happen in testing. The system does not allow to play half of a league. If one team in a league was effected then the entire league must be replayed. I feel Bernie did the correct thing by replaying all effected leagues. Me, I lost two more games than if they weren't replayed. More people would be upset if they weren't replayed. Like the guys that had Maddux pulled without throwing a pitch. If people are upset because the games were played with the correct starters then that is too bad. People taking their toys and going home because they did not get their own way will probably not be missed.

This sucked for all of us but this has had much less of an impact on the results, than what we need fixed. Many of us will agree. How many leagues did you miss the playoffs by one game or a tiebreaker? Then look back on that season and see Jose Cardenal with 68 at bats against rightys because of a injured DH or maybe Galleraga hitting against rightys too many times. Nobody knows if Hal cost us games with his decisions but I'd feel better if I knew I made all the moves myself.

This is the classic no win situation. I am very upset by the change in results but logically I know that if you lost a game with your top starter getting pulled, you would also feel that you were cheated. Many people clamor for changes to the site, but I feel that any alterations should wait to the next version is launched.

Agree about the changes;
and just to be clear- I am voicing my frustration about the situation- but that doesn't mean Im anti Bernie or am threatening to walk- I think many of us realize it is what it is- am just frustrated.

PS- why do I feel like this is an 'Im against the war, but support the troops' distinction?

I was affected negatively myself, but Bernie did the correct thing. Things happen, people will continue to be imperfect, and life goes on. Thanks for working swiftly to correct the problem Bernie.

I checked my games this morning and I went 3-0. With only about 20 games left in my league, I was now only 4 games out of first. I then saw the post about the glitch, and checked to see if this was a problem with the games I played and it wasn't. However, since it did effect another series in my league, my games were replayed as well. Then I lost my sweep and went 1-2, and now I'm 6 games back! The games where it wasn't an issue shouldn't have been replayed................

Same with me, Brent - went from div lead tie after a sweep to five games out after losing two of three, with 24 to go. But, ooh, I can set a backup DH now...oh, wait, that's right, I can't.

Anyone else feel like me and want to blame this on the folks always complaining about something or other and pressuring Bernie to apply changes that don't really improve the game all that much?

After I viewed my results last night, I lost 2 of 3 and finished 2 games back. Maddux gave up 8 runs. After the reboot, I won all 3 games and am now 2 games in front so the division leader got swept. Maddux took a no-hitter into the 8th and won. It amazes me that a reboot can drastically change results and Maddux's ERA survived a mega-hit. Bernie did the right thing, but not everyone can be happy.

If you need to find someone to blame, look no further than me. Without question, the biggest problem was that my testing of the DH addition wasn't rigorous enough before I deployed the code. That's all on me. It was careless, and bush league.

But given the resulting circumstances, I did the only - and fairest - thing I could do. Once again, we don't have the ability to re-play specific series or games. We do backups and interface with the underlying game engine on a per-night basis only. [i:45baea6362]Obviously[/i:45baea6362] if we were able to leave individual unaffected games alone, we would have. As it was, I had to jump through hoops to explicitly preserve leagues that were completely unaffected. But for the affected leagues, our options were to re-play everything, or nothing. Given the choice between those two evils, the decision was obvious, and I believe we've seen that most people agree.

I also tried to minimize the confusion by stating our intentions as quickly as possible, so that it would be clear that the results you saw were to be disregarded. I did so at 5 in the morning, within an hour after I discovered the situation. I only regret that I didn't do it even earlier, before the night owls already checked their results, and that I wasn't able to wipe the tainted results sooner.
