as for my plans for May, I think a Stargell/C. May platoon for a total of 11.3 M is going to be nice. I'd imagine if a player existed with Stargell's vsR and May's vsL he'd go for a lot more than 11M (look at what the really big boppers went for). Also liked Francona there as a platoon with Stargell but oh well. With the lineup of Reggie, Stargell, Epstein, I'm sure a lot of teams will look to throw lefties at me, so May can offset that to some degree.

It's been fun so far, 1/2 way home.

I "almost" outbid you for May but I felt that I would have nothing left for other players

Paul, let's check out that theory. We will be looking at your lineup thinking, "hmmm, if I start a righty, he'll start Stargell, and Reggie and Epstein hit righties better. But, if I start a lefty he'll start Carlos May - Oh, No! Better start a righty."

and Sneeze, I still want Meyer, but I don't think I can afford him.

Carlos May et al...

I would be hesitant to pick Carlos May if I already had Reggie, Stargell and Epstein, but I certainly understand having May as a terrific insurance player and backup (for $2.0 M) due to the injury risks associated with BOTH Epstein and Stargell.

Not a bad move, IMO.

2 million is a lot to spend at this juncture although I REALLY like May (had him in our last Roto league format in Yankee Stadium and he was studly.
Now I am in a lefty singles hitter park and May isn't the best fit for that money (only had 13 million left to spend)

P.S. and we have TWO Francona bids of 0.7

I agree that at 2.0 mil, Carlos May is a good value both as pinch hitter and as an excellent injury sub. I just think any sane manager would rather have a lefty face May than a righty face Stargell.

by the way I have Francona at 0.7

that's what I was saying above May vs Lefties, Stargell vs. Righties....and May for injury insurance. I said I expect people to throw lefties at me, so I need someone who can hit lefties well and I think May will do that. I don't expect him to make you change your mind and throw a righty, just give me a better chance against all the lefties I'm sure to see.
