One Man's Trash League: nominations complete

Our historical single season sets

Dan, there isn't a need to regulate positions at this time.

If you look through the player cards, you'll see that the type of players in this league play multiple positions (they needed to so they didn't get shipped back to the minors!).

So, there is sure to a big excess at all the positions, except possibly catcher and starting pitching; and in those positions there will be enough, but perhaps not a big excess.

Depending on the results of the nominating stage, we might need to put a cap on the number of catchers you can draft, but the rules already specify there will be at least 2 C for each team.

Plus we are all drafting one superstar pitcher, and, with the possible exception of Tatum, they will all be starters. That leaves only 4 starters to draft and if you look at pitchers in the salary levels of 1.0 mil and above, the starters are clearly worse than the relievers. So, plenty of bad starters will be nominated and be available for the draft.

RJ and Dan,

Perhaps I misunderstand your point. If your point is that there won't be enough good players at each position, then I agree with you completely. However, there will be plenty of BAD players available at every position.

Let's take SS as an example. The following 12 players can all be positioned at SS. All of these players field poorly and hit even worse!

Bobby Floyd, Tim Cullen, Jerry Davonon, Jose Arcia, Remy Hermoso, Darrell Chaney, Bobby Wine, Steve Huntz, Ron Clark, Len Boehmer, Leon McFadden, and Frank Quilici.

Yes, Leon McFadden was a career .215 hitter with no home runs, but in this league, he'll get his cuts.

Thanks, Franky, I am sure it will work. My question was not about good players available, just players at a certain position in general. For example, if RJ and I were to each draft 3 or 4 of the players you listed as SS (based on the fact that they play multiple positions) would it create a shortage at that position?

Another way to look at it would be what if somebody nominated an overabundance of a certain position (i.e. catchers) this would potentially leave the player pool thin at another position.

These are obviously just hypotheticals. I trust you have thought it through and we will be fine. And if we run into trouble we will figure it out. Now let's fill and get going!

Thanks for a fun league concept!

That would require you to pick your "All Star" position player as one at a weak position (i.e. Luis Aparicio could be your "all star" if you are really worried about the weakness at a particular position)

RJ, ball parks are nominated in round 2. So the league will have 12 unique ball parks.

As you know, ball parks can be drafted anytime during the draft.
