[quote:5d70c2c1ec="BobBoone"]Perhaps in a future incarnation of this league we could mix things up a bit! Here is my thoughts. What you bid is what you pay! What is different about that?, you are thinking. The difference is, you pay what you bid even though you didn't win the player!
Think about this. I bid 12 mil on Mantle, Hackra bids 13 mil and wins. Now Hackra brings out Mays thinking that he will open at 10 mil, to get some money spent. He now pays that 10 mil. Obviously we would need maybe 500mil or more for bidding money, and still could not exceed 200 mil for our teams. What makes this new format interesting is that none of us know what to expect.
It would be so tough to decide how much to bid on a player. If, say, Speaker comes out and I think that he will go for 22mil, and decide to bid that, now someone (probably DHowser), bids 23mil, I have just lost 22mil with nothing to show for it! It should still all even out by drafts end. We could have the strat price be the minimum allowed so you know that you are required to bid on 300 players times there strat price, and we would all be in the same boat.
We may each need 1 billion to spend, I am not sure.

I am all for new ideas, but it adds a lot of extra bookkeeping. I am not sure how it would add to the enjoyment.
