3rd Auction league - bidding...now chat thread

[quote:75acb49853="carr20"]While I am certain that the remark was totally innocent, I think that PKB's comment that DOHowser was leading on Ozzie with one bid to go was inappropriate. It is theoretically possible that such a revelation could give the last bidder an edge in framing his bid, and that would be the case especially as our remaining budgets dwindle. Thus, I suggest that any comments on outstanding bids be restricted to a notification that we are awaiting their bid.

Again, PKB, not accusing nor wishing to offend, just trying to preserve the secret nature of our bids.[/quote:75acb49853]

I agree with what carr20 said

suggestion

It sounds like a busy weekend for all. (in fact I also am traveling and will have less reliable internet coverage until Tuesday evening also). In any case, the league rules should be followed.

We should all hold off on any bidding for Ripken until the Ozzie Smith results are posted. (AND IF DOHowser happens to win, then the 24 hour clock should not start until after Ozzie results are posted....obviously if someone else wins, Ripkin is not nominated).

The nomination of Hank Aaron should stand as posted (he replaces Gehringer)

It is best not to allude to any bids on the message boards until after the player is awarded.

The 24 hour time limit should stay in place (as originally posted in the rules)

I will nominate a new player to replace Ernie Banks soon.

DOHowser won Ozzie with a 3.27 bid.
Final bid was a pass.

Trying to be brief bc I am on my phone.
Reasoning behind release of info:
1. DOHowser was stalling a bid bc he was pending Oz results

2. 11/12 bids were in.
3. No bid was revealed, only the leader.
4. Theoretical ly possible for other buffers to determine their bids were too low. Did not happen, bc true valuation took place on unit bid.

No malfeasance was intended and none occurred, unless final bidder was talked out of a valid bid by fear of an over large bid. Since DOHowser had bid over 1.5 mil tan any other bidder, I do not believe this likely.

Also, claiming Miljus, and submitting Willie Hernandez at $.75.

I agree that no malfeasance happened this time, and I think we all agree that PKB's motives were good, but I agree that from this point on, that no one should reveal any details about bidding til the bidding is closed.

Bidding Update

Postby DOHowser1 » Sun Oct 10, 2010 6:57 am

Looks like I picked a bad week to give up smoking.

Having morning coffee in a donut joint, and I mean joint, but it does offer free internet.

Aaron update: looks like I still need bids from DHowser, and Jet
Ripken update: looks like I still need bids from DHowser, Jet, BobBoone, Hackra, and DanielZ

Me thinks this is correct. Will try and get back online before the day is up. A busy weekend for everyone, indeed. :D
