We all know that things don't go the way you plan in this crazy game, but remember it is not your fault. HAL is in control!

What can you do when you get shafted in the draft?
There's no one to pitch. There is no one to bat.
You're scouting the wire and it puts you in a funk
Oh Sean, man come on, don't tell me you're seriously considering using Eric Plunk?

Where is Dave Parker when I need him in the clutch?
Is he doing lines with Raines? Am I asking for too much?
Where is Higeria when I need that big strike out?
It's just a dream they're on some other team
It looks like I'm S-O-L

[i:763eb3cd4f]Where's my daddy?
Where's my daddy?
Where's my daddy?
Daddy!? Dad!?
Don't bother me man, I got a draft going on![/i:763eb3cd4f]

Why do I sit for hours and play crazy game?
There's no money it. There is no hall of fame.
Is my life so boring, oh so very plain?
If this is the spice of my life?
Turn me over I am done.

Great lyrics and how true. I can't count how many times my kids Matthew and...um...urr...the other one... have interrupted important things like the live draft, or frenzy etc for something!!

A deep, dark and brooding song and yet mature and knowing... Yount Fan is at the height of his musical powers as he enters a blue phase.

YF...your best yet.

Here's a topic for you: McGwire...Kingdome...122 AB's....4HR....8RBI??? I'll bet you have crazier things than this in your past, but they do drive one a little bonkers.

Twisted with melancholy and darkness, the latest single from YountFan Records really shows Jeff's artistic nature as he ponders the existential motif of what it means to be an 80's addict in the 21st century. The song title, "HAL is in Control," asks the age old question of if HAL is a good god, then why is there human suffering in this game? Why would a good god allow his children to suffer at the hand of bad bullpen management and poor clutch hitting?

Conversely, if HAL is NOT a good god, then this world of Strat-O, that was created in his image, is NOT good either. And yet, there is much good to be seen in this world.

A good Strat-O god would not allow the travesty and suffering that we see in this game but an evil Strat-O god presents much deeper problems...what if there was no HAL at all? What if, instead of us being created in HAL's image, that HAL was created by our own hands? Who would be to blame then? Perhaps, HAL should be destroyed to save us from ourselves; to save our children and our childrens' children.

HAL is dead and we've killed him by our own hands. No remorse. No feeling. No worries. HAL is not in control. HAL is dead.
