The Red Sox owner DOES NOT need to draft the Montreal Card to protect. Pedro has a Red Sox card. The only situation that could arise is if the Expos are taken then how you rank them on draft card will determine who gets them. If no one takes the Expos then the Red Sox can use that card. Also the Phillies and Mets can not steal him b/c he has NO card for them. The only way they would have had a chance is if Boston and Montreal were NOT taken.

Last night, Bill raised the issue of whether the salary cap should be cut back from $125M. Given the parameters of the league, it looks like most franchises will struggle to fill every position with quality players, and they won't be able to hit $125M without having several overpriced backups. Perhaps we should look into cutting the cap to $110M or so, which should give everyone plenty of room to try out the new cards without handicapping certain franchises. Thoughts?

Finally, we should figure out what the rules are for trades. Are all players fair game? Or only those who played for your franchise?

As far as trades go. As long as both players played for their respective teams trades can be made.
