Andy, and fellow managers.. how do you guys feel about a $140mil cap.. i really beleive the player pool is deep enough to support 12 competitve $140 mil teams..

guys, this is an option, especially since we will have week to tweak rosters. I went with the 130m cap to help what I considered the weaker groupings (actually penalizing the stronger groupings). You guys with the BIG 10(Zimharry) and the MAC (emart), FAaron with the Independents, what do you guys say? I agree, I had more $$ I wanted to spend

My grouping, the BIG12, is awesome offensively, but weaker than other franchises in SPs. The NeLs are similar in this regard. The ACC has strong pitching but not as good a hitting grouping as some of the others....

I want the groupings to be as competitive as possible......

I like it both ways so cant really choose between the salary caps so will go with whatever the majority says but would want to decide BEFORE we release our players to the Grab Bag team

I'd like to hear from everyone...........as we are formulating our first teams, we can get a better idea of what the cap giveth and what it taketh away.......
I fleshed out "teams" for each grouping and found some obviously stronger than others, and incoroporated the cap to help mitigate those differences somewhat

again, thoughts, opinions?

I don't have a problem with the $140 million cap. It will probably mean more higher priced bench players and guys in the bullpen, but with all players available there should be enough for the Independents (unlike the 15 team league, where there were always at least 12 full rosters of players off-limits to the league).

A 140 cap would help the MAC group, but I can go either way. I'm sure I'll make fewer screw-ups if the cap is 140. :lol:

For the Big 10 which includes my beloved White Sox, I really think you can easily put together a $140 mil team.. Now that there are a lot of stud 4 and 5 million relief pitchers I really do not think the 140 is a stretch and it will eliminate the risk of someone accidently putting a $140 mil team in a league that is supposed to be 130.. Andy you know we had a few really good, well intentioned managers make that mistake in our last ATG franchise league..

Ok, I know I had some tough choices to make with the BIG12 grouping, as did Petrosian with the Yankees, as probably Red Beards with the PAC10 as well. The cap as currently constructed penalizes the stronger groupings, and before we move forward, we need to decide whether it helps the BIG10 and others to add expensive RPs to get to the 140m cap, while the Yankees or PAC10 adds a huge bat or a stud SP. Before we decide as well, check out the ACC for Steve or the Atlantic10 for Frank M, who although they have a good number of stud SPs, have [b:6fa442e13c]one [/b:6fa442e13c]10m plus hitter among them(Sisler).

That said, I also want to be able to use every player at my disposal as well :D , and we will all get one chance with each grouping. I also agree that it helps when managers "forget" the 130m cap, though most of you in the other league would agree that we havent had much of a problem.

The comments are actually running opposite of what I thought, with the managers i thought this cap would help more asking to raise it.

So, here is my suggestion, that we have a vote. Since it is a change of the rules we set out earlier, it is gonna take a 2/3 majority to change the cap. [b:6fa442e13c]Show me 8 Yes votes to the 140m cap, and it will be the new cap.[/b:6fa442e13c]

The lower cap helps equalize things for the less well-endowed schools, er franchises.

It also creates difficult choices for teams like the Yankees. It would have been so easy to put together a killer 140M team. At the 130M cap I had some really tough problems to solve. Had to leave Maris off the team to construct a well-balanced team.

Isn't having to solve problems one of the joys of playing this game?
