questions about first Polo team--60 mil league

I have never tried the all-bomber format before. Do I need to spend more on pitching? Vuke, Leever, Heintzelman available. I never use any of those guys but see them associated with Polo teams.

lineup:
Rosen
Snider
Banks
Covington
Powell
Ennis
Rice
Gallego/Javier

Sps: Ruether, Caldwell, Bagby Jr., Vance, Cvengros, Cox
Rps: Murphy, Lefferts, Staley

There's a Yankee 56 and a Dunn in my division, so a ton of lefties to face.

All kinds of players available. I could potentially drop Snider, pick up Gorman Thomas, and use the money to upgrade pitching a bit and get Mathews or Gary Carter. I'm a little worried about having enough obp at the top of lineup; I figure Duke and Rosen give me that plus homers.

Thanks for any advice. This is totally uncharted territory for me.

In a $60 Mill league you cannot really spend money on pitching and still be a bomber team.

Bottom line is to make sure you have the RIGHT pitchers:

For your rotation I would look at Frock, Vance, Speer, Yerkes, Bagby Jr, Morehead, Reuther, Vuckovich, Cvengros and Lea as options.

And then get some cheap quality relief help from guys like Sisk, Borbon, D'Aquisto, Bernard, Riddle, Russell are options.

Finally get one or two quality mid priced relievers such as Staley, Klinger, Beggs, Murphy, Perranoski, Lefferts.

At catcher, consider Lollar as Rice will probably miss 1/3 of the darned season. But, that being said, any time Gary Carter is available and you're in a HR park, I would do whatever I could to get him. (Lollar really is kind of like Carter Light!)

You've got the makings of a solid team there. Other cheap power options: Pakfo, Thomson, Bernazard, Salmon, L.Hernandez, Moryn, Swoboda, Buckner, Cey.

Evers would do nicely at 2B as would Hobe Ferris. Javier is great vs LHP's. But, you need someone better against RHP's IMHO.

Hope this helps somewhat, post a link if you can.

Yeah, I'm leery of Rice, and Lollar has been an ol' reliable for me. I also grabbed Ferris.

Don't think I can afford Carter unless I go even cheaper on pitchers. Which, I suppose, I could. I'd have to downgrade Staley. If I did that, I could get Mathews or Carter. But going into Polo with Murphy as my *only* decent pitcher--yikes.

Ed Bailey could be within reach. I could also shuffle a little and take Lefferts instead of Staley.
