Has anyone in the last 5 years received a star with less than 32 starts?

Anyone with 200+ IP always has a star (many with 30 or 31 GS, none with less has existed).
Obviously, you can see 196+ IP with 31+ starts is automatic (all examples below). But there has only been one 30 GS pitcher with 196+ IP (Wang 2007, 199 IP) and he didn't get a star. If you look back further through the data, you can see that rules have often changed or evolved with stars. I'm suggesting there's a chance Cahill and Santana get stars because Hal may have changed his mind in the last several years about other guys with 196+ IP. But we have no way of knowing because of having no examples.

2009:
Millwood, 198.2 IP, 31 GS

2008:
Sheets/Saunders 198+ IP, 31 GS

2006:
Myers 198 IP, 31 GS

2005:
Patterson 198 IP, 31 GS
Sabathia 196 IP, 31 GS

What about Kuroda? He had 31 GS and 196.1 IP with an ERC below 3? Will he get a *, and shouldn't he be around the top 25?

Woops. I screwed up. I was thinking Kuroda was out for some time early in the season, but that was not the case. I didn't even check his number of starts. He's #24 now. I left Arroyo listed, because he'll be higher if Santana has no star.

Yes. S6 with no star. But I have him extremely close to the top 25 also. He very well may be there.[/quote:23684022af]
