ATG6 Auction: Closed bidding and nomination thread

[quote:94ca70909d="litangel"]There has been so much unclarity about who was OK to bid on and when, that i would like to be liberal about times, maybe give folks til the 10pm today at least.

Also, I hate to say this, but it is possible someone was scared off by the 3.25/3.35 version of the Miljus opening, and since he went for less than that, if anyone asks for it, I think we need to redo that auction (note: I am not asking)[/quote:94ca70909d]

litangel is ABSOLUTELY right about Miljus....and I am fine on waiting until tonight on the timeclock due to confusion. (I also do not request a redo on Miljus)

While I like this format, I believe it sure does make it harder on the bidding. I have no problem with the way Miljus worked out.

Suggestion - There was one person who asked about a clock slowdown for Thanksgiving, and we never responded. How about all players close at 10:00 Friday, and if no one has objected to Miljus, he becomes official at that time also? Hopefully then we can return to normalcy.

Interestingly enough most of our overbid issues had nothing to do with the open auction.

Holiday Humor!

The top seven reasons why the usually conservative PKB ran roughshod over his bidding limit ---
(drumroll please)

#7 Has been studying with Harry Potter and his "Overflowing Auction Dollars" spell fizzled
#6 Was reading "The Enron Guide to Fantasy Baseball"
#5 Was overstimulated looking at photos of Gorshar's coaches!
#4 Was possessed by the ghost of George Steinbrenner
#3 Had a dream he was racing a cart through Supermarket Sweep and picking up players
#2 Decided to try the Big Bang Theory of Statistics to see if it worked in auctions
and
#1 Decided he wanted to be the smartest manager in the league by injecting steroids directly into his brain

Reason zero point five: Didn't actually expect to win any of these people.

Really. Didn't think I was gonna win Paige or Vance or the guy I won to mom Collins.

Or, maybe it was that work at the federal government has finally gotten to me and I like deficit spending.

Well.... Thanksgiving has come and gone. I'm sitting fatter today than I was yesterday. My stomach overextended and apparently my bidding funds... I may now be referred to as PKB2.

So here's the story and a probable resolve:

At issue is Charleston, Jeter, Miljus and Simmons. It's more of a timing thing than anything else.
We are all familiar with the Charleston story. Jeter was bid before the OC results. He went to auction. Carr passed, but Daniel didn't respond to auction and my 7.2 bid was tops. I bid on Miljus (11/24 11:42) after I offered Simmons (11/24 11:38). My auction bid on Jeter was on 11/24 5:54, but that was before I found out that Charleston was mine. (I had passed on Charleston 11/23 20:21).
I am .33 short to able to claim Simmons and Miljus. (I received no bids for Simmons.)
The easiest would be to eliminate Simmons since there were no bids and that would effect no one but me.
According to the timeline, I offered Simmons 4 minutes before the Miljus bid. So Simmons could be mine and my Miljus bid would get tossed out. Can PKB afford MIljus?
The wildcard here is Daniel. He did not respond to the Jeter auction or post a bid for Simmons. Though the time has passed by 48+ hours on Jeter.

My suggestion: I claim Jeter 7.1, Miljus 2.82 and we toss out the Simmons nomination.
Management peeps, what say you? I am eating leftover turkey gizzards already...

I would say the easiest solution is to just throw out the Simmons bid.

Also, still waiting for Danielz for Pujols bid.

This is like the old Agatha Christie novel "10 Little Indians" or "And Then There Were None." First it was PKB, now Ironwill...

Who will be the next to fall?
