Palmtana,
While I would love to be competitive for the 2011 season, if sacrificing it for the long term is an option, I will do so, which is one reason why I chose Castro. Yes he'll be most likely useless in 2011, but he has the potential to be someone special in the long-term, and at a position not exactly overloaded with viable candidates, even for the 2011 season, let alone the long term.
It's not so odd I had a gut feeling about Hawk's choices, he plays in another league with me, and seeing how he built his team, I knew he was of a like mind. As mentioned, I was talking to a fellow Strat geek, and in that conversation I mentioned Hawk as the one person who probably wouldn't allow me Posey or Heyward, though there were plenty of "better" 2011 only options at his slot. I thought that maybe if he had passed on Posey in RD 1, I'd have Heyward coming back in RD 2. Once Posey was selected, I knew it spelled doom for my "dream" draft.
Sometimes it's a fine line between playing both for the present and for the future. It's possible Castro already had his finest year this year and if so, I'll have some catching up to do. And as a couple of folks in this league that play in the other league, I do love my SS's, having 3 of the youngest ones already on my roster (including Castro), and another one in my minor league roster projected as one of the top ones in the minors.
