Thanks Franky, shaping up to be a very interesting league. Though I fear the potential outcome! Every time through the draft order I seem to have a dozen glaring holes. The only problem is now after 12 rounds I still have roughly 11 holes. I look at my lineup with the same squint that I use when watching an animal attack video on youtube.
The league has opened my eyes to a lot of players that I normally don't consider and I think that will be fun to apply in future leagues as well. I am still pissed that I missed Angel Bravo.
I will say that there have been an amazing number of players taken right before my picks that were in my proxies. As a result I have had several times where my top priority was not addressed .Probably just reflects the thinner player pool more than like minded thinking on talent.
I predict Al Ferrara will be a 30HR/75RBI guy for me. How about that?
And Larry Dierker will probably have at least a third of my teams W's.
My starting 2B Don Mason is a 2(e41). He has good range but obviously no idea what to do when he gets to the ball. And he has big doe eyes in his 1970 Topps card - taken during the '69 season. This leads to more errors. He is even better at SS 3(e88). So my opponents should look for hitters with an inordinate number of Gb2B(x) on their cards....
Joe Pepitone will have fresh dirt in the Lefty batters box every day.... Plus he's still pissed that he didn't get to play for AllStarInc. THAT is where the players want to play.
GFDwarf07's locker room is done in a combination Shanty Town/Calvin Griffith motif - no running water, jock straps hanging from rusty nails, friable asbestos ceilings, dust bunnies that look like they could bite your ankles, training table with three week old cotto salami and stale bread. But on the good side, we have now upgraded to a third urine bucket to pass around. And our clubhouse boy is now going to take a bath monthly, whether he needs it or not.
Gotta cut corners somewhere to make money in this league.
