2) Teams will be made up of players from the actual real-life rosters of two MLB franchises for that year.

Does this mean a player who did NOT play during the 1984 season is ineligable to autodraft? Example: A rookie from 1985-1989 or someone who just did not play for some reason that year in MLB.

Please clarify for me so I don't hold us up or screw up.

Correct. Players who did not play in 1984 may not be on a roster during the season. Of course if HAL assigns you an ineligible player in the autodraft you will need to drop him before opening day.

Use is workbook as your approved player list. If they are displayed with filtered on 984 and your teams then they can be used. The highlighted players are one that played on multiple teams in that season and are available to both manager on a first come, first served basis. If they be,long to your team and one of the undrafted team then you have total rights to the player.
