Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

Talking about team chemistry, here's a team of mine in the same league as LM Bombers "Pilots" team:

My team is 5th in batting, and 7th in pitching...definitely not what I had expected in Dodger Stadium. Best as I can figure the hitters, Pena is in his best year. but the rest are mid-lining. But one of the team strength's is the fairly expensive relief pitching of Holland, Sutter, and Gott!! I think the team CHEMISTRY is great on this team and it's the reason why LM"s team and mine have identical win/loss records.

I think I've won more 1-run games with this team than any others I've had. Some walks, some stolen bases, a timely single...add 'em up and have a few studs in the pen shut 'em down.

Ok. I thought I was done but having second thoughts. 3 issues still with the team (same as ever). too many lefties and, less important, could use a LH RP and Dykstra might bust against LH.

I think I need a RH DH. I took Matthews.

So, the questions is do I downgrade Eck and trade in Matthews for a better DH (preferrably who could play center).

For an RP-Pena, Holland, Orosco, Hammaker, Corbett, Gott, Lavelle, Ruhle, Campbell, BJames (.75) and Rozema.

DHs available are - Baker, Lezcano, Henderson, barfield, Valentine, G.Maddox, JLeonard, Armas, Mookie, JCarter,MMarshall.

Any of those guys sound particularly better than the rest (for Royals)?

I could also just trade in Matthews for Bo Jackson (who sometimes strikes out) or Foster (who has some very bad years- and I thought he was awful for the Mets- until "The Bad Guys One" explained his purpose=insanely good book by the way).

Maddox

Gary Maddox has a sorry OBP, but, boy, can he play the field. He tends to be better against lefties, and hits doubles. The pitcher's BP isn't going to hurt him as much, and high singles rating will help his average. Since he also plays CF, Dykstra becomes DH. If either of them busts, drop him, get a replacement. Mookie Wilson might be a good fit for you, as well.

There's just no way of knowing, though, until you get going. Maybe Matthews will work out fine.
