NLD 26 Chat

[quote:33223c59fe="bigmahon"]I hear you Joe. My goose is cooked also. I just didn't get enough of 'my guys' in the draft to ever get in a comfort zone. Easily one of the worst teams I've had using the 2009 set.

Oh well, bring on NLD 27! :D[/quote:33223c59fe]

Thanks Big M.

I wish I could say that I think this team isn't very good, but I think it's better than it's played. <sigh> Oh well, such is SOM.

In the mean time, it's a heck of a race in the West with a tie btwn Zim and Keyz and Big M only 3 back.

Jeep is in the driver's seat (pun intended) in the WC, but one of the two top East teams have a shot to overtake him if he falters.

Stones looks pretty much home free in the East as does DT in the Central, but you never know.

Updated Team results. I haven't adjusted for moves or pitching usage changes so this is probably a little off. Still thought it was interesting.

Biggest underperformers are me and Smokey. Both of our pitching hasn't been really where it could be and my one runners have killed. Would have expected more from Big A also. He's -9 in one runners so that explains some of it.

Keyz and DT pitching has been better than expected and AT's O. Otherwise we're relatively close.

Overall, DT is in first, Jeep and JTJ battled it out behind until we lost all those close games this last week.

In the East with Smoke's implosion, Stoney has the best rating and best record. In the West, zim and Keyz are battling it out as the ratings expected.

Hey Stones,

Thanks for pointing out that you, likely, will finish with a negative run differential and make the playoffs while we are likely to be positive and not even be close. :( ;) Heck, I'm just hoping to go 4-2 so we finish above .500!

Talk about rubbing salt in the wound! :P

In the meantime, Jeep has closed to 3 games with six to play and holds the time breaker with DT. He's also 4 up in the WC but doesn't hold the TB. DT has clinched a PO spot.

Key is up by 2, but doesn't have the TB with Zim.

Stones has clinched.

I don't have the TB vs Zim, but now I at least control my own destiny...nothing worse than being 1 game back AND not having the TB.

Magic number is 5...

Understatement alert, my sweep last night was Huge. Ironically, Zim is one of only two teams I have a losing record against.

The West seems like it changes every night. No way to predict that outcome, although Key has taken the lead at the right time.

6 more to play. I'm crossing my fingers Youks and Carlos stay healthy.

Yeah, Jeep, I was kinda hopin' there'd be a backdoor wildcard slot as a fallback for the race in the West, but looks like you mighta just put a deadbolt on that door!

Keyz,

Well, I managed to take take two from Jeep, but pulled my favorite move by losing by one run in game 2. 37% of our games have been decided by one run. :( I *did* however, manage to win an extra inning game! Given that he has the TB with you, the WC isn't an option. But you'll have to totally choke to miss out.

DT will face Stones in the first round

The other series features Jeep traveling to either Zim or Keyz. Zim needs a sweep and to have Keyz get swept to make the playoffs.

Even if there's a three way between Zim, Key and Jeep, then Zim wins the division and Jeep beats Keyz on the TB.

In other news, AT, DJ and Smoke are battling to stay out of the East next time around. Two of them will be in the East. Big M and I are solidly in the Central for the next round with, most likely Zim and either AT or Smoke.

* I haven't clinched yet. Zim could still get the WC if he sweeps and I get swept.

Joe - you always mention the 1-run losses but rarely mention the ones where you had the luck. For example, game 1 where my ace this season Rowland-Smith gets injured in the 1st inning, which led to the depletion of my pen and Feliciano being brought in to give up the game winning runs in extras.

And re: tonight. I'm w/o Lopez for the whole series and Smith's injury means both Moyer and Hammel starts tonight. Zim still has a shot.

Ah, yeah, I knew there was something else there, but my brain got stuck on the three way tie. yes, if Zim sweeps, you get swept AND Keyz doesn't get swept, you *could* miss the playoffs.

As for the the luck thing, I do post when I get the breaks, WHEN they haven't been overwhelmingly against me. When you've played as many close games as I have an you're minus 11 I think you can ignore the few breaks you got. ;)

Now that it's the last series of the season, I *will* point out an area where I believe I *did* get very lucky. We didn't have nearly as many injuries as we could have and they weren't for all that long. I kept worrying that we'd make a run only to have injuries derail it, but we just never made a run. :( I didn't bring this up early as to not tempt the SOM Gods. Turns out they just didn't like us this time around.

I bet we end up on the low end of the injury scale and we're not all that injury proof.

GL to everyone tonight and in the Playoffs. May the best team win!

Jet

p.s. Big M, you're right. You made the playoffs the last two leagues and I didn't and I made it the three prior years and you didn't and the one before that (NLD 20) you made the POs and I didn't. So it's been since NLD 20 that we were in the same Div. Actually, upon further review, in the 16 previous seasons we have NEVER been in the POs at the same time and only four times did both of us NOT make the POs.
