How exactly does this work? I don't think I have seen it before.

The batter swings and nips/hits the catcher's glove. He is awarded 1B on C interference and the C is given an error.

In strato land, it's a "rare play". When you roll a fielder-X off the pitcher's card, you roll a 20 sided die, and three 6 sided dice to help determine the outcome. If the result of the 20 sided die is in the "error section" and the three six sided die add up to 5, then it is a rare play. Examples of a rare play are things like catcher interference, fan interference, lineout hitting a runner, inside the park HR, hidden ball trick, etc.

Thanks Jeep- Mr. Obvious. I always imagine the catcher gets pissed off and trips him on the way to first base :)
