How do you paste a list here with columns?

Postby artie4121 » Sun Jan 09, 2011 7:31 am

I'd like to paste an extensive list here of four or so defined columns. It is in Excel now.

I've tried everything within my limited intelligence to do so. Does anyone brighter than me have any ideas?

Thank you,

Artie

Try using the list or the code button. Then preview it before ya post.

Not working . . . Looks a BIT better with "Code," but still lopsided and hard to read when previewed, as such:

It should have 6 lined up columns, as it appears in Excel.

You code guys out there: Any other tricks?

Thank you in advance. (If you're an ATG fan, you will like my results if I can get this right.)

The web site removes extra spaces, so that won't work.

1. Copy then "paste special" into a text doc to remove spreadsheet formatting. (Columns will remain, separated by tabs.)
2. For text doc, use a justified (equal width) font like Courier.
3. Then use spaces to line up the columns, replacing all tabs with spaces.
4. Then apply "code" to the entire document when you post, to make spaces stay and columns survive posting.

You can see the result in the Standings or Tour History posts on the PC Forum. It's a lot more tedious than it should be, but I've never found an easier way that works. If anybody knows one, I'd love to hear it too.

It sounds like it would be easier just to post the info in a Google doc, share it with the world, and then post the link in the forum.
