Best cards of 2009 set?

Postby Jake Squid » Thu Feb 03, 2011 2:42 pm

In addition to Pujols/Mauer, these are the cards that I like a lot

Rickie Weeks - cheap DH w/ lots of power
Carlos Beltran - worth it even if you only get 400 AB
Raul Chavez - worth a lot more than .7
Matt Garza - good value
Felix Pie - surprisingly good offense to go w/ solid defense
Josh Outman - teeny, tiny WHIP

I concur absolutely with the previous post.

A division rival (a guy named Marcus!) picked up Weeks in the preseason, and Weeks is awesome value for the money, and really delivered for Marcus.

I have used Chavez, Outman, and Beltran - agree completely - all really really good in absolute terms, and great for the money.

No, I've had subsets of them, but never all at once...although does give me an idea  :D

Jason Kubel is a great value. I can't believe someone mentioned Garrett Jones as a weak card...he has mashed for me, and is my alternative if I don't get Kubel.

Carlos Marmol, Chad Qualls (both already mentioned), and Jose Valvarde are great deals in the pen.

Other hitters, many already mentioned: Adam Lind, Chris Coghlan, Julio Borbon, Freddy Sanchez, and from the unleashed set, Jeff Bailey.

I couldn't agree more. Kubel has been my secret weapon. Combined with a cheap 7L platoon guy, you can have a killer platoon. Same with Garrett Jones. I've had BOTH of them on teams, and killed.

Best cards for '09

Postby oldhat2 » Sat Feb 05, 2011 10:09 am

Interesting posts! Here's my list
1. Freddie Garcia-15-17 wins every time. Low ERA and Whip
But, 7L Turn those switchy's around!
2. Julio Borbon 200AB .350? 1.24M! 30SB wow
3. Beltran worth it!
4. Marquis consistantly good
5. Garland very good for 1M
6. Blanco at C. Hits a ton vs. lefty's and -2 arm
7. CJ Wilson/Ziegler Two headed closer.
Those are some of my "must have's" when drafting '09. But my #1 has to be "Fabulous" Freddie Garcia. Most recient 16-6! For 4.45M
