Best cards of 2009 set?

Postby joethejet » Tue Feb 08, 2011 3:56 pm

Personally I think the guys that typically get over priced are the guys who are really good v LHP, but not so much v RHP.

So in the 2009 set that would include:
Kemp
Wright
Werth
Napoli
Jeter
Rolen

There are others but, I think there's a pattern there.

What do you guys think?

Nice observation Joe The Jet. Most of the higher priced right hand bats that crush left hand pitching do rather poorly against RH pitching. Given the fact you are usually facing RH pitchers 67%-75% of the time, the powerful left side can't overcome and compensate for the weaker right side.

- You guys hit on a lot of the good values in my book. I'd also like to throw Ramiro Pena's name in the hat at 1.44 he can put up some solid numbers.

-Willingham and Torres would both fit Joe the Jets theory. The 4 rating kills Willingham. Who the hell would use Torres?

I think the hitters that are overpriced are those with nice OBP but mostily from walks intead of hits. This is especially true for those hitters that can walk but can't steal a base or run well.

I agree with Joe regarding the overpriced hitters who are lopsided vs LHP....HOWEVER, I wouldn't put Wright and Jeter in that category. True, they are heavily weighted vs LHP's, but they more than hold their own vs RHPs too.

I think Kemp, Werth, Napoli and Rolen are the more textbook cases.

I have found success with Omar Infante. He is only 1.47 mil with a high OBP and AVG. He is very versatile in that he plays every position but C and 1B.
He can get injured but in my current season he is around .320/.400/.410 as my number 2 hitter.
