DRAFT CARD CONFLICTS: Each manager gets to protect 1 player where he owns the highest salary card of that player - all other conflicts will be solved by the autodraft

FREE AGENCY: You own the players that have cards only for your city. You have the right to players who have cards in your city, but so does the manager for every other city where that player has a card. All unowned cities are fair game for free agency. If your city has a card for a player that also has a card with an unselected city, you have the right but not the exclusive right to that player - he may also be selected by any manager in free agency.

So why are we not doing round three at the same time as round two since it's the same draft order?


Anyway, I'm still not clear on what players I can take or lose in free agency.

1. I have Hoyt Wilhelm who's carded to CHW and CAL. I doubt anyone will select CAL so assuming they will be an unselected franchise, can anyone draft the lesser Wilhelm card to screw me out of the more expensive Wilhelm?

2. Can I draft anyone as a free agent if he is from an unselected franchise in the autodraft or is that only in round 4 that I can take anyone from an unselected franchise. I'm just not clear on what the eligible free agent pool is.

The highest price (team) of a particulair player owns the rights to that player.

As I understand it.

ie. Maddux, 4 cards (3 Braves/1 Cubs), highest salary is with Braves so he is Braves property.

In my case, I have the Cubbies. I lose Hornsby to the Cards because his card with them is more $. I think I can live with Rhino though... :lol:

Let me get this straight.
Cardinals own top value cards for Hornsby and McGwire. I can protect Hornsby and take my luck with autodraft on McGwire, or protect McGwire and take my luck in the autodraft with Hornsby.

But then only the Cubs owner would be able to "steal" Hornsby or the Oakland owner McGwire in the autodraft, correct?

So, let me see if my feeble brain has finally comprehended the possible eligible team structure.

1. All the players from each of the two franchises we draft.
2. One Negro League player
3. One player from any teams not drafted, no salary limit
4. Two, and only two Free Agents from teams not drafted (selected during autodraft).

Caveats--

a. Initial rights to players with cards on multiple teams are owned by the franchise owner of the card with the highest salary.
b. Each owner my protect one multi-franchise player based on a. above
c. Only franchise owners with player's cards may own players. Thus Hornsby can only belong to the Cubs or Cards owner.
d. Free agent players on undrafted teams with cards on drafted teams are not eligible. Thus if nobody selects California Wilhelm can only be on the White Sox team and can not be selected in the FA draft.
e. Of the two FAs drafted one must be less than $5 million, one must be less than $2 million and neither may have cards on drafted teams.

So, the only players' cards on your roster not belonging to a franchise you own, or with a card on a franchise you own are: 1 negro league player and 3 Free Agents, one unlimited salary, one less than 5 mil and one less than 2 mil.

Do I have it right?
